Subsurface Petroleum Engineering Intern 2027

As a Petroleum Engineer (PE) intern you will be part of the Subsurface organizations Global Subsurface Solutions (GSS) armand our vision is to become an industry-leading engine room of our integrated energy company; we will do this by putting safety first reducing carbon emissions improving efficiency integrating across the value chain and flexibly deploying talent to solve the most significant issues. At the heart of Subsurface lies our purpose of being a digitally enabled and agile team that can apply and nurture its subsurface skills to finddevelopand manage a portfolio of high-value carbon-efficient resources.

As a Petroleum engineerintern you will be responsible for applying innovative digital and data science technologies to deliver system monitoring optimization and capacity growth across the 4-chokes (Reservoir-Wells-Plant-Export) and developing well intervention requirements to maintain or improve the production of hydrocarbons and CO2 storage throughout the life of the field. Depending on your bp location and role you will gain broad capability primarily through jobexperience in:

• Reservoir and Well Performance: Participation in reservoir and well reviews; involvement in production forecastingoptimizingwater gas and CO2injection or helping design Well intervention or surveillance programs.

• System Optimization: Create andmaintainnumerical models data analysis and data visualization tools tooptimizethe integrated production system delivering safe reliable low-carbon operations andidentifyingopportunities to grow installed production capacity.

• Well Management: well performance tracking or well operations real-time surveillance and analyzing and developing data analytics solutions.

• Building relationships both within bp and with our external partners collaborating across functionssegmentsand teams to deliver excellence

During your internshipyoullget continuous feedback and guidance on how to plan and deliver your project along with advice on what to look for and who to talk to.Youllalso be encouraged individually and together with your intern peer group to find out as much as possible about other teamsdisciplinesand operations to broaden your understanding ofthe bp is an assessed internship and mayserve as a pathway to the 2028 graduateprogramme subject to business needs at the time.

Requirements

• Be currently pursuing a bachelors or postgraduate degree inPetroleum Engineering Applied Petroleum disciplines

• Maintain a CGPA of 7 & above

• Should be class of 2028and be eligible fora10-weekinternshipbetween May to July 2027

• Have a willingness to learn a passion to excel and deliver results

• In addition demonstrable data science skills would be advantageous for any geoscience candidate applying for a role in bp. Specifically proficiency in using statistical methods to interrogate large datasets for geological insight and in the application of using scripting languages such as Python and R and development environments such as Jupyter andRstudio.
