Job Summary

The State Head Collections is a senior leadership role that oversees the entire collections lifecycle for a designated state within the MSME lending ecosystem. This position sits at the intersection of risk management customer experience and operational efficiency reporting directly to the Regional Head of Collections and collaborating closely with Credit Legal Product and Finance teams.

Key responsibilities include setting ambitious yet achievable collection targets across all delinquency buckets (0and 90 days past due). The incumbent will continuously monitor portfolio health using advanced analytics to pinpoint highrisk accounts and potential defaulters. By translating data insights into actionable recovery strategies the State Head will drive reductions in delinquency ratios and improve rollback rates thereby protecting the institutions asset quality.

Strategic recovery initiatives are central to this role. The leader will design and implement tailored interventions for highvalue accounts coordinate legal escalations and manage the full spectrum of agency relationships. This includes negotiating performancebased contracts setting productivity benchmarks and ensuring costeffective collection operations. The State Head must also oversee the endtoend processing of payments settlements and refunds guaranteeing adherence to internal policies and regulatory guidelines.

People leadership is a critical component. The State Head will build and nurture a highperforming collections team providing coaching performance feedback and career development opportunities. By fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement the leader will achieve both efficiency and retention targets while maintaining a customercentric approach.

Compliance and governance are nonnegotiable. The role requires thorough knowledge of Indian regulatory frameworks governing collections including RBI guidelines and consumer protection laws. The State Head will ensure that all collection activities are conducted ethically with proper documentation and audit trails minimizing legal risk for the organization.

Collaboration with internal stakeholders is essential for optimizing recovery performance. The State Head will work with Credit to refine underwriting criteria based on collection insights partner with Product to adjust loan terms where appropriate and coordinate with Finance to align recovery forecasts with financial reporting.

Success in this role is measured by tangible outcomes: reduction in nonperforming assets (NPA) improvement in portfolio rollback rates cost efficiency of collection operations and high compliance scores. The ideal candidate brings over a decade of experience in collections recoveries or NPA management within NBFCs fintech firms or banks with a proven track record of handling large unsecured loan portfolios across multiple geographies in India.

In addition to deep expertise in unsecured lending and the full recovery lifecycle the candidate must demonstrate strong strategic thinking operational excellence and the ability to influence senior leadership and external partners. Experience managing multiple collection agencies and legal recovery channels coupled with a solid understanding of regulatory and legal frameworks is essential.
