Specialist Commercial Controller (Retail Focus)

Key Responsibilities

P&L Ownership & Analysis

• Full responsibility for departmental P&L analysis across 50 departments.
• Conduct weekly and monthly KPI reviews including margin supplier income pricing effects NWC stock days and payment terms.
• Perform in-depth analyses across supplier buying category channel and customer group dimensions.
• Ensure margin accuracy and alignment with Romanian accounting standards and MCC Romania requirements.

Financial Planning & Forecasting

• Lead budget planning and execution for Offer Management department
• Prepare business cases for buying decisions with necessary approvals.
• Support special projects during month-end (e.g. advance goods loading).

Reporting & Presentations

• Prepare and present reports for weekly sales meetings and monthly board reviews.
• Provide commentary and insights for category managers and open forums.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting to local authorities (language dependency can be delegated).

Data & Systems Expertise

• Proficient in SAP advanced Excel and VBA including the ability to read and modify scripts.
• Work confidently with complex data structures and perform advanced financial analyses.
• Experience with MS Access and Big Data environments would be considered an advantage.

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Collaborate closely with Commercial Ops and IT teams.
• Actively participate in transition discussions and retrospectives.

Language & Local Knowledge

• Romanian language proficiency preferred for local reporting and stakeholder engagement.
• Knowledge of the Romanian chart of accounts and local accounting regulations is highly desirable although not a mandatory hiring requirement.

Qualifications :

Education

• University degree in Finance Accounting or Controlling.

Experience

• Proven experience in budget cycles and controlling.
• Previous experience in retail and stock management environments; experience with Tesco would be considered an advantage.
• Exposure to Romanian accounting systems and post-LUCA implementation environments.

Skills

• Strong analytical problem-solving and presentation skills.
• Advanced Excel and VBA capabilities.
• Ability to navigate complex metrics and systems.
