Job Summary
RHEL / HP-UX / Solaris Administrator Managed Infrastructure Services
In the role of RHEL / HP-UX / Solaris Administrator you will be responsible for the administration operation maintenance and continuous improvement of mission-critical Unix and Linux infrastructure environments. You will manage enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) HP-UX and Solaris platforms supporting business-critical applications ensuring high availability performance security compliance and operational excellence.
You will own day-to-day platform administration lifecycle management patching upgrades incident resolution performance tuning automation initiatives capacity planning and disaster recovery readiness across production and non-production environments. You will work closely with application database storage network cloud security and service management teams in an ITIL-driven environment to deliver reliable and resilient infrastructure services.
Qualifications
Basic
Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent from an accredited institution.
10 to 16 years of progressive experience in Unix/Linux Infrastructure Administration.
Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise RHEL HP-UX and Solaris environments.
Experience working in large-scale mission-critical production environments with 24x7 support models.
Relevant certifications such as RHCSA/RHCE Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) Oracle Solaris Certification HP-UX certifications or equivalent industry certifications are preferred.
Preferred
Enterprise Unix/Linux Administration
Extensive hands-on experience administering RHEL 7/8/9 HP-UX 11i v3 and Solaris 10/11 environments.
Expertise in OS lifecycle management including installations upgrades migrations patching hardening and decommissioning activities.
Deep understanding of kernel tuning system internals performance optimization and enterprise-scale infrastructure management.
Experience leading operating system upgrade and transformation initiatives across large server estates.
Infrastructure Operations & Technical Leadership
Experience serving as Technical Lead or Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Unix/Linux platforms.
Ability to lead Major Incident calls Problem Management reviews and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) discussions.
Experience mentoring junior administrators and driving technical competency development within teams.
Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing communication skills.
Storage Clustering & High Availability
Strong expertise in LVM VxVM ZFS VxFS XFS ext4 UFS and enterprise storage management.
Experience administering SAN infrastructure multipathing solutions and storage provisioning activities.
Hands-on experience with high availability and clustering solutions such as Serviceguard Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) Solaris Cluster Pacemaker or equivalent technologies.
Knowledge of disaster recovery planning DR testing and business continuity strategies.
Performance Engineering & Capacity Planning
Advanced knowledge of system performance analysis and tuning across CPU memory storage and networking layers.
Experience conducting capacity reviews infrastructure forecasting and optimization initiatives.
Ability to identify performance bottlenecks and implement proactive improvements.
Security Compliance & Governance
Strong understanding of security hardening standards and enterprise compliance frameworks.
Experience supporting audit remediation activities and compliance requirements.
Expertise in Identity & Access Management integration including LDAP Active Directory PAM SSH SUDO and multi-factor authentication solutions.
Experience implementing CIS benchmarks and vulnerability remediation programs.
Automation & Modernization
Strong automation experience using Shell Bash Korn Shell Python Perl and Ansible.
Experience designing and implementing infrastructure automation frameworks.
Exposure to DevOps methodologies CI/CD pipelines Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management practices.
Experience driving operational efficiencies through automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Monitoring & Service Management
Experience with enterprise monitoring platforms and predictive infrastructure monitoring solutions.
Strong understanding of ITIL-based Incident Problem Change Configuration and Release Management processes.
Experience working in SLA/KPI-driven managed services environments.
Familiarity with ServiceNow and enterprise ITSM tools.
Cloud Virtualization & Container Platforms
Experience supporting Linux workloads on AWS Azure OCI or hybrid cloud environments.
Exposure to VMware OpenShift Kubernetes containers and cloud-native infrastructure technologies.
Understanding of infrastructure modernization and cloud migration strategies.
Nice to Have
Experience with Red Hat Satellite SUSE Manager Spacewalk Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) HP Systems Insight Manager or similar enterprise management platforms.
Hands-on experience supporting OpenShift Kubernetes Docker and Containerized Linux environments.
Exposure to Cloud platforms such as AWS Microsoft Azure Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform Ansible Automation Platform Puppet or Chef.
Experience administering Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) Serviceguard Solaris Cluster Pacemaker Corosync or RHCS.
Exposure to virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere KVM Hyper-V and Oracle VM.
Experience performing Unix-to-Linux migrations datacenter migrations cloud transformation or infrastructure modernization projects.
Understanding of IT Operations Analytics (ITOA) AIOps and predictive monitoring tools.
Experience with server build automation golden image creation and standardized OS deployment frameworks.
Knowledge of enterprise network concepts including Load Balancers DNS DHCP Firewalls Proxy Servers and TCP/IP troubleshooting.
Experience participating in audit reviews compliance assessments and security certification activities.
Capability to drive Continuous Service Improvement (CSI) programs and operational excellence initiatives.
Experience acting as an L3/L4 escalation point for critical incidents and complex infrastructure issues.
Prior experience in customer-facing roles solution discussions technical governance meetings and service reviews.
Exposure to AI-driven operations automation initiatives and self-healing infrastructure frameworks.
The job entails sitting as well as working at a computer for extended periods of time. The role may require participation in rotational shifts on-call duty and incident-response engagement during critical platform events. Should be able to communicate by telephone email or face to face.
