Our team is responsible for the tax calculation engine we provide the core services that calculate the accurate amount of transactional taxes (sales tax and VAT) on Amazon. We thrive on providing the correct tax amounts to the customer at order time and make sure audit records are stored safely to meet tax law requirements around the globe. Our challenges include staying on top of the complex and ever-changing global tax rates and laws as well as computing calculations correctly and quickly millions of times a second and each one needs to be right.
We are looking for software engineers who thrive on complex problems and relish the challenge of operating complex and mission critical systems under high scale loads. Our systems do billions of calculations taking 1000s of inputs and respond within few tens of milliseconds. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle including design development documentation testing and operations. They must possess strong verbal and written communication skills be self-driven and deliver high quality results in a fast paced environment. Key job responsibilities
1. Define design and implement multi-tier distributed services and customer experiences
2. Be involved in designing implementing and testing of major features
3. Estimate engineering effort plan implementation and rollout system changes that meet requirements for functionality performance scalability reliability and adherence to development goals and principles.
4. Effectively collaborate in a fast-paced environment with multiple teams in large organization for full stack development both backend as well as front end.

We are looking for smart motivated Software Development Engineers who can help in building an automation platform to control the lifecycle of live events (sports news concerts) using latest technologies such as machine learning and computer vision. If you have experience building large-scale high-performance customer-friendly products and are interested in designing and implementing distributed systems to handle large datasets complex domains and problems at Amazon scale this is the job for you. This is an exciting role offering a customer-obsessed engineer an opportunity to learn and use a broad array of technologies to make a real impact. Our architecture leverages the latest in AWS cloud technologies including EC2 S3 DynamoDB Kinesis and Cloudfront in supporting billions of requests from millions of Prime Video users.
- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
