Software Dev Engineer, Payroll Integrations

Amazons Payroll Technology organization is building the future of payroll processing at unprecedented scale serving over 1.7 million employees across 50 countries. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer II to join our Payroll Integrations team and help design build and operate mission-critical systems that ensure every Amazonian gets paid accurately and on time.

As an SDE II on this team you will own end-to-end delivery of distributed systems that process and orchestrate employee payroll data across multiple upstream and downstream systems. Youll work on high-throughput data pipelines configuration-driven integration frameworks and automation solutions that reduce manual effort and improve payroll accuracy at global scale. Your work will directly impact the employee experience for over a million people worldwide.



Key job responsibilities
What Youll Do
Design develop and maintain scalable highly available services that power 65 payroll integrations across multiple countries and vendors
Build and optimize data pipelines that process employee lifecycle events from new hires to terminations ensuring timely and accurate data delivery to payroll systems
Drive technical design decisions author design documents and collaborate with Principal Engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects
Own operational excellence for production systems including monitoring alarming on-call support and continuous improvement of system reliability
Identify and resolve ambiguous problems propose innovative solutions and raise the bar on engineering quality across the team
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing




- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 3 years of Video Games Industry (supporting title Development Release or Live Ops) experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
