About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in C within Epirocs Agentic AI division you will play a pivotal role in developing high-performance software solutions that power cutting-edge mining and construction equipment. This position offers a unique opportunity to drive innovation by integrating agentic AI methodologies into our software development lifecycle shaping the future of automated engineering processes.
You will be responsible for designing implementing and validating embedded control software that directly impacts the reliability safety and efficiency of machinery deployed in challenging real-world environments. Working closely with a global engineering network you will leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to enhance productivity and quality across the development pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect develop and maintain C based embedded software modules enabling machine control sensor integration and automation workflows for drilling and material handling equipment.
- Ensure software performance scalability and reliability meet stringent operational and safety standards through rigorous testing debugging and validation.
- Collaborate in the adoption and advancement of an AI-native software development lifecycle by designing and implementing agentic AI systems context engineering strategies and automation feedback loops.
- Develop and execute automated testing frameworks leveraging AI agents to improve test coverage and efficiency.
- Engage in continuous evaluation of emerging AI tools and techniques including experience with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot to increase development velocity and code quality.
- Participate actively in Agile development processes contributing to sprint planning code reviews and retrospectives within Scrum or Kanban teams.
- Support DevOps initiatives by enhancing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps ensuring seamless integration and delivery of software components.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelors or masters degree in Electronics Mechatronics Robotics Computer Science or a closely related engineering discipline.
- 5-8 years of professional experience in application software development for embedded systems using C with strong Object-Oriented Programming skills.
- Hands-on understanding of automotive and industrial communication protocols including CAN J1939 LIN and Ethernet.
- Proven experience working with AI coding assistants and agentic AI workflows including knowledge of concepts like multi-channel processing (MCP) agent-to-agent (A2A) communication and agent skills design.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and project management tools like JIRA and Polarion.
- Demonstrated ability in designing and operating agentic systems in complex engineering environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities combined with effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate across diverse teams.
- Experience working within Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
