We are looking for an experienced C freelancer to work on the desktop products Albis
Medistar and Turbomed. The codebase is a long-lived mixed Qt estate built with CMake
Conan and MSVC with embedded CEF and legacy components in MFC ATL Win32 and
Delphi. The work centers on performance stability and the gradual modernization of these
products.
Scope of Work
Develop and maintain C components for the desktop applications with priority on
performance stability and scalability.
Design and implement multithreading and parallelization for safe efficient concurrent
execution that meets the responsiveness needs of clinical users.
Analyze the existing code locate performance bottlenecks and improve the runtime
behavior of the products.
Work with the Architecture QA and Product Management teams to deliver maintainable
high-quality solutions.
Support the migration of legacy MFC ATL Win32 and Delphi components toward
modern C and .
Use AI coding agents (for example Claude Code) in daily work to speed up refactoring
code analysis and legacy modernization and contribute to the teams shared agents
skills and prompt templates.
Must-Have Skills
Several years of senior C development preferably in high-performance heavily
parallelized desktop systems.
Strong command of modern C (C14/17/20) multithreading and concurrency
models debugging and performance tuning.
Hands-on experience with CMake Conan and MSVC and with integrating components
such as CEF and Qt.
Structured analytical working style with high quality standards.
Nice to Have
Hands-on experience with Claude Code or similar agentic coding tools (building agents
skills workflows); familiarity with AI pipelines harnesses and context engineering.
Background in regulated or healthcare software.
A degree in computer science mathematics physics electrical engineering or a
comparable technical field (relevant experience can substitute).
Languages
Fluent English required. Good German is an advantage.
