A leading transformer manufacturing and repair company based in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Maharashtra specializing in Power EHV Converter Duty Inverter Duty and Furnace Transformers.
With manufacturing and testing capabilities covering transformers from 2.5 MVA to 315 MVA and up to 400 kV class SOS has successfully manufactured repaired and re-engineered 1300 transformers for leading industrial and power-sector customers.
The company operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility along with an in-house NABL-accredited testing laboratory equipped for advanced transformer testing up to 400 kV / 315 MVA.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Manager - Quality to lead and manage Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) activities across transformer manufacturing and repair operations.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in transformer/electrical equipment manufacturing quality knowledge of applicable standards such as IS 2026 and IEC 60076 and expertise in quality systems inspections audits NCR RCA CAPA and 8D.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead QA/QC activities across transformer manufacturing and repair operations.
- Develop implement and maintain Quality Plans Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and inspection procedures.
- Ensure compliance with IS 2026 IEC 60076 customer specifications and other applicable quality standards.
- Monitor quality at every stage including:
- Incoming raw material inspection
- Manufacturing processes
- Assembly
- Testing
- Final inspection
- Dispatch
- Coordinate transformer testing and quality documentation with the NABL-accredited testing laboratory.
- Plan and manage customer third-party certification and surveillance inspections/audits.
- Lead NCR Root Cause Analysis (RCA) CAPA and 8D activities and ensure timely closure.
- Monitor quality KPIs rejection rework defects and customer complaints.
- Identify recurring quality issues and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Work closely with Design Production Purchase and Testing teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
- Strengthen vendor quality management and incoming inspection systems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and quality processes.
- Ensure proper preparation and maintenance of inspection testing and quality-related documentation.
- Lead mentor and develop the quality team to achieve organizational quality objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma / B.E. / in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Control.
- Strong preference for candidates from transformer manufacturing electrical equipment manufacturing or related power-sector industries.
- Good working knowledge of IS 2026 and IEC 60076.
- Hands-on knowledge of transformer testing and inspection processes.
- Experience in NCR CAPA RCA and 8D methodologies.
- Experience in handling customer third-party and certification inspections/audits.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication coordination and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience in leading or managing a quality team.
