Process Engineer Powertrain Assembly

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Process Engineer - Powertrain Assembly to join our manufacturing engineering team. This position is ideal for an engineer who is passionate about automotive manufacturing process improvement and production excellence.

The successful candidate will support the development optimisation validation and continuous improvement of powertrain assembly processes while ensuring quality safety productivity and cost objectives are achieved. This role offers strong learning opportunities and exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies within the automotive industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development and optimisation of powertrain assembly processes for engines transmissions drivetrains EV batteries and electric motors.
• Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency reduce cycle time minimise scrap and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities for production quality and warranty-related issues.
• Collaborate with design production quality maintenance and manufacturing teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.
• Support new product introduction activities and manufacturing readiness planning.
• Create review and update:
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Work Instructions
  • Process Flow Diagrams
  • Control Plans
• Support Lean Manufacturing 5S Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collect and analyse production and quality data using Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools.
• Assist in evaluating assembly equipment tooling fixtures and production systems.
• Participate in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews.
• Support testing and validation activities of powertrain assemblies and document findings.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation related to process changes and improvement activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety quality and manufacturing standards.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in:
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Automotive Engineering
  • Production Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Electrical & Electronics Engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • or a related discipline.
• 2 years of experience in manufacturing assembly industrial engineering or related areas.

Required Technical Skills

Manufacturing Knowledge

• Understanding of powertrain systems internal combustion engines transmissions EV batteries and electric motors.
• Knowledge of assembly and manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of quality tools such as:
  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Root Cause Analysis
  • Continuous Improvement methodologies

Electrical and Testing Fundamentals

• Basic circuit theory including AC/DC circuits Ohms Law and series/parallel circuits.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Understanding of:
  • Sensors
  • Relays
  • Contactors
  • Motors
  • PLC input/output fundamentals
• Familiarity with measuring instruments such as:
  • Multimeters
  • Oscilloscopes
  • Meggers

Data Analysis

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Basic knowledge of statistical analysis methods is preferred.

• Familiarity with CAD software such as CATIA SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
