Job Summary
Summary of Position:
Principal I Network & Server Operations is responsible for supporting maintaining and troubleshooting enterprise network and server environments with a strong focus on Cisco and Juniper-based LAN infrastructure. This role requires hands-on expertise in CCNA-level networking incident resolution and operational support to ensure high availability and performance across the organizations network systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Operations & Support
- Monitor and maintain enterprise LAN/WAN environments ensuring optimal network performance and uptime
- Perform Level 1/Level 2 troubleshooting of network issues focusing on Cisco-based infrastructure
- Support configuration maintenance and troubleshooting of:
- Switches (Juniper Catalyst series Nexus preferred)
- Routers
- VLANs trunking (802.1Q) and inter-VLAN routing
- Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues including:
- IP addressing and subnetting problems
- DNS DHCP and routing-related incidents
- Layer 2/Layer 3 connectivity issues
- LAN Troubleshooting & Incident Management
- Act as a primary responder for LAN-related incidents and service requests
- Utilize tools such as packet captures logs and monitoring dashboards to identify root causes
- Troubleshoot issues related to:
- VLAN misconfigurations
- Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)
- Port security and access control
- Network latency and packet loss
- Cisco VoIP and other voice issues
- Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or vendors as needed
- Server & Infrastructure Support
- Support server connectivity within the network (physical and virtual environments)
- Coordinate with server storage and application teams to resolve cross-functional issues
- Assist in maintaining infrastructure documentation asset inventories and configurations
- Change & Configuration Management
- Execute standard network changes following change management processes
- Assist in configuration and deployment of network devices
- Maintain accurate documentation of network topology configurations and procedures
Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor network health using enterprise tools (e.g. Logic Monitor SolarWinds PRTG or similar)
- Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements
- Participate in root cause analysis and post-incident reviews
Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
- 12 - 15 years of total experience with Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNP) certification (required or strongly preferred)
- 8 years of relevant experience in network operations or NOC environments
- Strong knowledge of:
- TCP/IP subnetting and routing fundamentals.
- CISCO IOS CLI Juniper MIST L2 Support
- VLANs STP and basic routing protocols (OSPF EIGRP).
- Proven experience in LAN troubleshooting in enterprise environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Cisco switching platforms (Catalyst Nexus)
- Familiarity with network monitoring and ticketing tools (ServiceNow or similar)
- Basic understanding of firewalls and network security concepts
- Experience supporting virtualized or cloud-connected environments (AWS)
- ITIL knowledge or certification.

Work hours: 1 PM to 10 PM IST
