Overview
Responsible for the design analysis and coordination of mechanical systems for hydropower plants including turbine-generator units governors MIV EOT cranes and balance-of-plant systems (cooling water drainage/dewatering HVAC fire protection compressed air).
Your role
To perform the role successfully the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following independently or under the supervision of senior engineers:

Perform the following for the hydropower plant turbine-generator units governors MIV EOT cranes and balance of plant systems such as cooling water drainage-dewatering HVAC fire protection and compressed air systems:
- Design analysis and calculations for selection and sizing of turbines and mechanical balance of plant equipment.
- Prepare technical and performance specifications and work with vendors for the equipment supply contracts.
- Prepare design basis memoranda technical memoranda and reports and coordinate report preparation within a multidisciplinary team.
- Work with drafting technicians to prepare design drawings and conceptual / tender level drawings.
- Prepare Bills of Materials and cost estimation.
- Review manufactures drawings calculations specifications and test reports.
- Preparation of testing and commissioning procedures.
- Preparation and review of as-built/ record/ closeout drawings and documents.
- Preparation and review of quality assurance procedures performing inspections at vendors workshops.
- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team coordinating with civil electrical and other mechanical engineers.
- Work effectively with peers junior engineers and other discipline designers to ensure accurate delivery that will meet utility Standards industry standards and meet good engineering practices policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualification
- A Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Institution.
- A minimum of 7 to 12 years of experience in the hydroelectric industry with specific experience in turbine-generator units balance of plant and/ or heavy mechanical equipment.
- Knowledge of ASME ASTM IEC ASHRAE NFPA USBR and other codes standards and regulatory requirements relevant to the work.
- Proficiency in Office software products is essential.
- AutoCAD software experience.
- Revit or other 3D software knowledge will be an asset.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
