Manual QA Tester
Job Summary
The Manual QA Tester is responsible for ensuring the quality reliability and usability of software applications through comprehensive manual testing. The role designs and executes test scenarios identifies and documents defects validates fixes and supports regression and release testing. The position works closely with Product Development Business Analysis and Delivery teams to prevent defects improve test coverage and support timely high-quality releases.
Responsibilities
- Plan design and execute manual test cases based on business requirements functional specifications user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Perform functional integration system regression smoke sanity exploratory and user acceptance testing as required.
- Identify reproduce document prioritize and track software defects using the approved defect management process and tools.
- Validate defect fixes and perform regression testing to ensure that changes do not introduce new issues.
- Work closely with Developers Business Analysts Product Owners Project Managers and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve testing issues.
- Review requirements and user stories early in the development lifecycle and identify gaps ambiguities risks and testability concerns.
- Maintain test scenarios test cases test data and test execution results with appropriate traceability to requirements.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement sprint planning daily stand-ups sprint reviews and retrospectives.
- Support release validation and provide clear testing status defect summaries risks and quality recommendations to stakeholders.
- Perform database validation and basic data verification using SQL when required.
- Ensure testing activities follow established QA standards processes documentation practices and project timelines.
Qualifications
Education/ Experience:
- Bachelors degree in computer science Information Technology Engineering or a related field preferred.
- 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in manual software testing preferably in web-based or enterprise applications.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum software development environment.
- Experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira Azure DevOps TestRail or equivalent tools preferred.
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman is preferred.
Skills and Ability:
- Strong understanding of software testing principles QA processes defect lifecycle and industry-standard testing methodologies.
- Hands-on experience in creating comprehensive test scenarios test cases test data and test execution reports.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a systematic approach to identifying analyzing reproducing and troubleshooting software defects.
- Ability to understand business requirements user stories and acceptance criteria and translate them into effective and comprehensive test coverage.
- Experience in testing web-based applications including cross-browser compatibility responsive UI functional integration and regression testing.
- Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira or equivalent tools.
- Exposure to test automation concepts or hands-on experience with automation testing frameworks and tools will be an added advantage.
- Working knowledge of Jira or similar defect/project tracking tools.
- Experience with API testing Postman SQL/database validation or automation testing concepts is a plus.
Work Conditions/ Physical Demands:
This position is performed primarily in an office work environment and requires prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer. The role requires regular use of a keyboard mouse monitor phone and other standard office equipment. The employee must be able to communicate effectively through video conferencing phone email and other electronic communication tools.
