We are looking for a Software Development Manager a proven engineering leader who combines deep expertise in AI driven innovation and large-scale distributed systems to lead world-class engineering teams driving the next frontier of fast delivery at Amazon. You will own the end-to-end shopping experience for sub-same-day delivery driving the full speed lifecycle right selection frictionless discovery and reliable delivery promise in close partnership with Operations Product and Science teams. Leveraging generative AI and agentic workflows you will build and integrate intelligent systems across core retail services and key CX surfaces including Homepage Search Storefront Product Detail and Checkout reimagining how customers find and choose what they need at Amazons fastest speeds. You will own the technical vision engineering culture and delivery excellence across multiple product and platform domains building deep partnerships with tech teams influencing across multiple orgs and businesses and engaging directly with senior stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities
- Set the technical vision and multi-year roadmap across multiple Speed Tech product and platform domains making forwarding looking architectural decisions for large-scale high-availability systems serving hundreds of millions of customers.
- Drive generative AI and agentic system adoption across your teams partnering with Science and Product to build intelligent scalable experiences across the full speed shopping lifecycle.
- Lead and grow high-performing engineering teams across multiple domains recruiting top talent coaching engineers and building a culture of ownership inclusion and continuous learning.
- Work across the organization to deliver the best in-class delivery experience for our customers while balancing critical business objectives
- Build software that easily extends to meet the high growth of Amazons delivery business and capabilities
- Own and operate mission critical services that are highly reliable and highly low latency. Own operational health of your systems and teams driving incident reduction defining SLAs and championing a data-driven culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence.


A day in the life
You will lead in a fast-paced environment guiding a team of smart software engineers to architect and develop the right technical solutions to meet the needs of the business. You will be in charge of the complete software development lifecycle: defining prioritizing designing building and testing new features. We care about both delighting customers and high quality software; we dont sacrifice one for the other. Were looking for someone with a demonstrated track record of hiring and leading teams of software development engineers to build and run highly-scalable global software solutions.

About the team

We provide those customers with innovative ways to get what they want and need enabling the choices they make on every order every day.

- 7 years of engineering experience
- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
