We are looking for an experienced Mainframe DB2 Application Developer with strong hands-on expertise in COBOL DB2 JCL SQL and CICS. The candidate will be responsible for developing enhancing testing and supporting enterprise Mainframe applications with a strong focus on DB2 application development and performance.

• Develop enhance and maintain Mainframe DB2 applications using COBOL and SQL.
  

• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into application solutions.
  

• Develop and optimize DB2 SQL queries stored procedures and database programs.
  

• Design and maintain DB2 tables indexes views and other database objects.
  

• Develop COBOL programs with embedded DB2 SQL.
  

• Create and maintain JCL for batch processing and application execution.
  

• Develop and support CICS-DB2 online transactions where required.
  

• Perform DB2 data analysis troubleshooting and performance tuning.
  

• Analyze SQL access paths and recommend appropriate indexing and query optimization.
  

• Handle DB2-related production issues job abends data issues and application failures.
  

• Perform unit testing integration testing regression testing and defect resolution.
  

• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to Mainframe development standards.
  

• Support application releases deployments and production implementation activities.
  

• Prepare technical documentation and support knowledge-transfer activities.
  

• Collaborate with Business Analysts QA teams Application Support and other technical teams.
  

• Strong hands-on experience in IBM DB2 application development.
  

• Strong programming experience in COBOL.
  

• Excellent knowledge of DB2 SQL.
  

• Good experience with JCL.
  

• Experience with CICS and CICS-DB2 applications.
  

• Strong understanding of DB2 database concepts including:
  

  • Tables and indexes
    

  • Primary/foreign keys
    

  • Views
    

  • Referential integrity
    

  • Locking and concurrency
    

  • Commit/Rollback
    

  • DB2 utilities
    

• Experience with DB2 performance tuning and SQL optimization.
  

• Knowledge of TSO/ISPF and SDSF.
  

• Experience troubleshooting batch jobs and application abends.
  

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  

• Embedded SQL in COBOL
  

• SQL query development and optimization
  

• DB2 table and index design
  

• Explain plans / access path analysis
  

• DB2 utilities such as LOAD UNLOAD REORG RUNSTATS and COPY
  

• Cursor processing
  

• Static and dynamic SQL
  

• Commit and rollback processing
  

• DB2 locking and isolation levels
  

• DB2 recovery and backup concepts
  

• Experience with DB2 stored procedures and triggers.
  

• Knowledge of IMS DB/DC.
  

• Experience with IBM MQ.
  

• Knowledge of Endevor Changeman or similar tools.
  

• Experience with Mainframe production support.
  

• Experience in Banking Insurance Healthcare or other enterprise domains.
  

• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  

• Knowledge of CI/CD practices for Mainframe applications.
  

IBM DB2 COBOL JCL SQL CICS VSAM TSO/ISPF SDSF DB2 Utilities

Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology Engineering or a related discipline.

The ideal candidate should have strong DB2 application development experience with excellent knowledge of COBOL and SQL. The candidate should be capable of developing new applications enhancing legacy systems optimizing DB2 queries troubleshooting production issues and supporting mission-critical enterprise Mainframe applications.
