Job Summary
Job Responsibilities
- Manage organize and maintain the school librarys collection of books digital resources periodicals and multimedia materials.
- Develop and implement library policies procedures and user guidelines aligned with BHISs educational objectives.
- Provide support and instruction to students faculty and staff in locating evaluating and using information resources effectively.
- Plan coordinate and promote reading programs author visits literary events and literacy initiatives that complement the schools curriculum.
- Oversee acquisition cataloguing and weeding processes to ensure a current relevant and diverse collection.
- Maintain accurate records of library usage inventory and statistical reports for administration review.
- Manage library technology including integrated library systems (ILS) eresources platforms and digital lending services.
- Supervise and mentor library assistants student volunteers and interns.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into lesson plans and projectbased learning.
- Ensure a safe welcoming environment that encourages independent reading and research.
Essential Qualifications
- Masters degree in Library Science (MLIS) or equivalent qualification.
- Professional certification from a recognized library association (e.g. Indian Library Association).
- Excellent knowledge of cataloguing standards (e.g. AACR2 RDA MARC).
- Strong communication skillsboth spoken and writtenin English.
- Proficiency with library management software and digital resource platforms.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural educational environment.
Desired Experience
- Minimum 35 years of experience managing a school or academic library.
- Demonstrated experience in developing literacy programs and promoting reading culture among K12 students.
- Familiarity with ICSE IGCSE and CBSE curricula is advantageous.
- Experience in training teachers and students in information literacy and research skills.
- Exposure to emerging library technologies ebooks and online learning resources.
