What awaits you/ Job Profile

  • You will shape the future BMW vehicle chassis performance safety durability and driving dynamics by developing Wheel Bearing and Swivel Bearing systems for passenger vehicles.
  • You will contribute to the design and development of wheel-end bearing systems across global vehicle platforms.
  • Develop and maintain 3D CAD models assemblies engineering drawings and release documentation for wheel bearing and swivel bearing systems.
  • Support concept development package studies design optimization prototype builds validation activities and production implementation.
  • Collaborate with Suspension Steering Brakes Wheels & Tires Vehicle Dynamics CAE Manufacturing Purchasing Testing and Supplier Engineering teams.
  • Ensure compliance with performance durability safety NVH lightweight cost and manufacturing requirements throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Support engineering change management technical problem-solving and continuous improvement activities from concept through series production.

What should you bring along

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering Automotive Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 8-12 years of experience in automotive bearing wheel-end suspension or steering system development for passenger cars.
  • Strong understanding of bearing systems and wheel-end architecture.
  • Experience working with OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers in bearing or chassis component development.
  • Knowledge of automotive design standards engineering release processes and product development methodologies.
  • Experience in global vehicle development programs and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical communication stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in English; German language skills are an added advantage.

Must have technical skill

  • Design and development of Wheel Bearing Units (Gen 1 Gen 2 Gen 3)
  • Strong understanding of bearing architecture including Inner Ring Outer Ring Rolling Elements Cage Assemblies Sealing Systems Lubrication Systems Hub Flange Interfaces
  • Expertise in bearing life calculations and durability assessment.
  • Understanding of bearing preload requirements and bearing stiffness optimization.
  • Knowledge of friction management torque losses efficiency and thermal behavior.
  • Experience with wheel-end packaging and interface management.
  • Design and development of Swivel Bearings
  • Knowledge of bearing load transfer behavior under steering and suspension movements.
  • Understanding of friction characteristics wear mechanisms sealing requirements and lubrication concepts.
  • Experience in durability optimization and performance improvement of swivel bearing systems.
  • Experience supporting Ride & Handling development activities.
  • Understanding of wheel bearing influence on steering precision vehicle stability and rolling resistance.
  • Experience with vibration and noise reduction techniques.
  • Support design optimization to improve durability and performance.
  • Develop and maintain DVPs and validation documentation.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and corrective action implementation.
  • Support prototype pre-series and production validation activities.
  • Develop detailed CAD models assemblies engineering drawings and release documentation.
  • Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and interface management.
  • Create component specifications and design standards.
  • Conduct design reviews and technical feasibility assessments.
  • Manage engineering changes throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
  • Experience in Design for Assembly (DFA).
  • Knowledge of cost optimization and value engineering methodologies.

Good to have Technical skills

  • CATIA V5/V6 Part Design Assembly Design GSD and Drafting.
  • Teamcenter ENOVIA or equivalent PLM systems.
  • GD&T and Tolerance Stack-up Analysis.
  • Bearing Life Calculation (ISO 281) methodologies.
  • SKF Schaeffler NTN NSK Timken or JTEKT bearing product knowledge.
  • Suspension Kinematics & Compliance (K&C) Analysis.
  • DFMEA DVP&R APQP and PPAP methodologies.
  • Root Cause Analysis 8D Six Sigma and Problem-Solving tools.
  • Supplier Management and Technical Coordination.
  • Cost Optimization and Value Engineering.
  • Experience in global vehicle development programs.
