About Fluence RMDC
The Remote Monitoring & Diagnostics Center (RMDC) is Fluences global command center for ensuring 24/7/365 reliability cybersecurity and operational excellence across our Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) fleet. As energy storage complexity grows strong SCADA and networkexpertiseare essential formaintainingreal-time visibility secure communications and resilient system performance.
Position Summary
The SCADA & Network Engineer supports global assets with advanced troubleshooting secure network architecture oversight SCADA signal reliability and seamless integration between Fluence control systems and customer/TSO(transmission system operator)environments. This role combines operations networking OT cybersecurity and SCADA engineering into a high-impact technical position.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct advanced troubleshooting in Linux environments focusing on services system logs and performance metrics to accurately isolate and document issues prior to escalation to Product teams.
Identifyand resolve complex technical issues at BESS sites working with Linux systems Cisco switches and firewalls and ensuring secure and reliable communications.
Oversee cybersecurity and patch management by administering network device updates firmware patches andvalidatingthe security of all deployments.
Collaborate closely with software teams to evaluate vulnerabilities verify updates and guarantee secure deployment practicesfleet-wide.
Serve as the primaryescalationcontact for all SCADA communications server and network challenges at operational BESS locations.
Diagnose and address failures related to SCADA signals communication breakdowns network connectivity cybersecurity alerts and Linux/server service disruptions.
Coordinate and support Field Service Engineers commissioning teams and other engineering specialists tofacilitateeffective issue resolution.
Maintain comprehensive SCADA and network documentation including architecture diagrams signal lists communication links and backup and recovery strategies.
Adhere strictly tochange-managementprotocols for SCADA and network configurations.
Assistin monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) tracking compliance and reporting on the reliability of SCADA and network systems.
Technical Stack & System Expertise
7yrsof relevantOT /SCADA /Networkingor ITexperience.
Familiarity with Git andGithub
Good networking skills switching routing and basicfirewallknowledge OSI model andPrudencemodel
ISO 2700 and associated standards NISIIand other country or regional cybersecuritystandards
Knowledge about SCADA protocols such as: Modbus & TCP/IPRemoteTerminal Units (RTUs) SEL Real Time Automation Controller (RTAC) SCADAGateways & Data Concentrators MQTT Sparkplug B
OPC-UA servers (Ignition).
Basic knowledge in Linux based systems and commands. High-level programming languages such as Python or shell/bash scripting. Insights aboutGithub
Good communicationskills
English fluent
German /otherlanguage skills desired
Ticketing and incident management platforms(Salesforce Jira).
Shift & Team Structure
Located inBangalore;operatesin a 24/7 rotational shift model.
Supports global regions (Americas EMEA APAC).
Works closely with RMDC engineers SCADA specialistscontrolsteams and commissioning engineers.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
Education
Bachelors orMasters in Computer Engineering Automation IT Computer Science Electronics or equivalent.
Experience
35 years in OT/SCADA/network engineering within power utility industrial automation or energy systems.
Experience with SCADA systems signal mapping networking and industrial protocols.
Skills
Strong real-time troubleshooting capability.
Clear communication and solid documentation skills.
Solution-oriented mindset with attention to cybersecurity and safety.
Ability to interpret network diagrams SCADA architectures relay/RTU configs.
Other Requirements
Fluence safety training.
Willingness to work rotational shifts.
Ability to support field teams remotely when needed.
PREFERRED
Certificationsa plus(RHCSA RHCE CCNA CISSP or equivalent).
Experience in industrial control systems BESS or other mission-critical hardware/software systems.
Experience in BESS renewable energy or related fields
Familiarity withITIL/ITSMprocess.
