What awaits you/ Job Profile

  • You will shape the future BMW vehicles dynamics by bringing brake systems to life through precise CAD modelling Concept and engineering execution.
  • You will contribute to the design and development of Front Strut Systems and associated suspension components for passenger vehicles.
  • Develop and maintain 3D CAD models assemblies and engineering drawings for front strut modules and suspension integration components.
  • Support concept development package studies design optimization prototype builds validation industrialization and production implementation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with vehicle dynamics durability safety NVH weight cost and manufacturing requirements throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Vehicle Dynamics Body Steering Brakes Powertrain Manufacturing Testing and Suppliers.

What should you bring along

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering Automotive Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 8-12 years of experience in automotive suspension system design and development for passenger cars.
  • Knowledge of automotive design standards engineering release processes and product development methodologies.
  • Experience working with OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers in wheel product development.
  • Proactive teamwork-oriented mindset with the ability to operate in a matrix environment.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in English additional German language skills are an advantage.

Must have technical skill

  • Design and development of MacPherson Strut systems and associated front suspension modules.
  • Strong understanding of front strut assemblies including Shock Absorber / Damper Coil Spring Spring Seat Upper Mount / Strut Mount Bearing Assembly Jounce Bumper Spring Insulators Strut Housing / Tube Steering Knuckle Interfaces
  • Expertise in suspension kinematics and compliance characteristics.
  • Understanding wheel travel camber gain caster kingpin inclination scrub radius bump steer and roll center requirements.
  • Knowledge of vehicle ride handling steering performance and ride comfort targets.
  • Experience in suspension packaging and integration with: Body-in-White (BIW) Steering System Brake System Wheels & Tires Drive Shafts Electric Power Steering (EPS)
  • Experience in CAD development of suspension components assemblies and detailed engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of durability and structural requirements for suspension and chassis components.
  • Understanding of suspension load cases including Cornering Loads Impact Loads Braking Loads Curb Strike Events Pothole Events Abuse Loads
  • Experience supporting CAE activities including durability stiffness fatigue and modal evaluations.
  • Knowledge of suspension NVH concerns including road noise vibration isolation mount tuning and ride refinement.
  • Understanding of tolerance stack-up studies interface management and suspension assembly feasibility.
  • Experience in engineering change management design release processes and issue resolution.
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
  • Support component-level subsystem-level and vehicle-level testing and validation activities.

Good to have Technical skills

  • CATIA V5/V6 Part Design Assembly Design GSD and Drafting.
  • Teamcenter ENOVIA or equivalent PLM systems.
  • GD&T and Tolerance Stack-up Analysis.
  • Kinematic and Motion Analysis.
  • DFMEA DVP methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Brake-by-Wire systems and Integrated Brake Controls.
  • Experience in accelerator sensor integration and electronic pedal systems.
  • Knowledge of FMVSS ECE AIS and global vehicle safety regulations.
  • Root Cause Analysis 8D Six Sigma and Problem-Solving tools.
  • EV and Hybrid Vehicle pedal system development experience.
  • Cost Optimization and Value Engineering.
  • Experience in global vehicle development programs.
