As the Lead EWIS Engineer you will spearhead the design development and production planning of the electrical architecture that powers our next-generation electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. You will be the technical anchor for our wiring and interconnect systems transitioning complex electrical schematics into flight-ready high-voltage physical hardware. This role bridges the gap between digital 3D CAD design and physical aerospace fabrication establishing standard part libraries and engineering documentation frameworks to accelerate aircraft assembly.
What You Will Do
End-to-End Design & Architecture:Own the 3D routing packaging and 2D manufacturing documentation of aircraft wire harnesses using Zuken Creo and CATIA.
Component & Component Library Governance:Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) and standard part classification frameworks for all EWIS components. Create unified engineering documentation templates and engineering part specifications for all connectors backshells contacts and connector child parts (seals locks keys).
Accessory Specification & Material Control:Define engineering performance limits and procurement-ready documentation for all EWIS accessories including splices environmental protection shields shield terminations heat shrink tubing terminal lugs and structural protection elements like grommets and conduits.
High-Voltage Architecture:Design and optimize high-voltage wiring paths ensuring strict insulation coordination separation of signal and power and robust shielding against EMI/EMC.
Production & Fabrication Planning:Establish standard operating procedures for harness fabrication including precise tooling selection crimping and soldering specifications.
Quality Assurance & Standards:Implement and enforce IPC-620-WHMA and IPC-J-STD-0001 standards across all internal and outsourced fabrication processes. Align design architectures withAS50881guidelines.
Requirements
What We Are Looking For (Must-Haves)
Experience:8 to 10 years of hands-on experience in aerospace or high-performance electric vehicle EWIS design and production.
Component Engineering Depth:Deep experience authoring engineering specifications internal part number classification documents and technical evaluation sheets for complex aerospace or military-grade connector assemblies and wiring accessories.
CAD Tools:Proficiency in Catia SolidworksCreoandZukenfor 3D routing and 2D harness layout generation.
Manufacturing Depth:Direct experience with harness fabrication processes including production planning tooling selection crimping validation and high-reliability soldering.
Power Awareness:Proven track record working with high-voltage wiring systems and managing insulation coordination in constrained environments.
Preferred Skills (Good-to-Have)
Strong working exposure toCATIA V5 / V6 (3DEXPERIENCE)environments specifically utilizing:
Systems Schematic Designerfor logical/functional design.
Electrical Part Design & Manufacturingfor harness routing and formboard preparation.
Mechanical Shape Designfor complex surface modeling and structural interfaces.
