Position: IBM Z Mainframe Engineer / DB2 Systems Administrator Lead

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IBM Z Mainframe Engineer / DB2 Systems Administrator Lead to manage and lead mainframe system administration database administration and related infrastructure activities. This role involves ensuring optimal performance availability and security of IBM Z mainframe systems and DB2 databases. The successful candidate will lead a team and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support mission-critical enterprise applications.

• Lead and manage daily administration and support of IBM Z mainframe systems including z/OS operating system.
• Oversee DB2 database administration activities such as installation configuration performance tuning backup recovery and security.
• Ensure high availability performance and reliability of mainframe and DB2 systems.
• Coordinate with application teams and vendors for deployments upgrades and troubleshooting.
• Maintain system security including user access and compliance with organizational standards.
• Develop and maintain documentation runbooks and operational procedures.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and administrators.
• Participate in incident management root cause analysis and problem resolution.
• Plan and execute capacity planning patching and system upgrades.

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
• 7 years of experience with IBM Z mainframe systems and DB2 database administration.
• Strong knowledge of z/OS batch/job scheduling JES RACF and mainframe networking.
• Proficient in DB2 for z/OS including performance tuning backup/recovery and security.
• Experience with mainframe tools such as SDSF ISPF and other system utilities.
• Excellent problem-solving communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced high-availability environment.
• Experience with automation and scripting on mainframe platforms is a plus.
