Job Summary
- Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure construction activities comply with local environmental laws and international standards (e.g. ISO 14001).
- Monitor environmental permits and reporting obligations.
- Risk Assessment:
- Conduct environmental risk assessments (air water soil noise) at construction sites.
- Recommend mitigation measures for impacts related to dust noise and hazardous waste.
- Waste Management:
- Oversee proper disposal and segregation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
- Promote recycling and environmental sustainability practices on-site.
- Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor air water and soil quality near construction areas.
- Prepare environmental reports incident logs and audit documentation.
- Training and Awareness:
- Train workers and subcontractors on environmental policies and practices.
- Promote a culture of environmental responsibility and awareness.
- Incident Investigation:
- Investigate environmental incidents (e.g. spills leaks) and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain a record of non-conformities and implement preventive measures.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers site engineers and regulatory bodies.
- Liaise with environmental consultants and third-party auditors as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Degree or diploma in Environmental Science Environmental Engineering or a related field.
- Certifications: NEBOSH ISO 14001:2015 EMS Auditor/Lead Auditor or equivalent HSE qualifications.
- Experience: 6 years in HSE with focus on environmental safety preferably in the construction sector.
- Skills: Knowledge of local environmental regulations strong reporting communication and training skills.
