Heavy Equipment & Commercial Vehicle Technician
Job Summary
Industry: Construction
Inspect diagnose service and repair heavy construction equipment and commercial vehicles.
Carry out preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing on excavators bulldozers wheel loaders graders rollers backhoe loaders tipper trucks and other fleet vehicles.
Diagnose and repair mechanical hydraulic electrical pneumatic transmission braking steering and engine systems.
Perform routine inspections and identify faults before they result in equipment failure.
Replace or repair defective parts components and systems using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
Conduct emergency repairs and breakdown assistance on construction sites when required.
Maintain detailed service records maintenance reports and repair documentation.
Ensure all equipment and vehicles comply with company maintenance standards and applicable safety regulations.
Work closely with Site Supervisors Equipment Operators and Fleet Management to minimise equipment downtime.
Maintain workshop tools and equipment in good working condition and ensure a clean and safe work environment.
Follow all Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) procedures and company policies.
Carry out manual work related to the assigned job as required by the site supervisor.
Carry out any other maintenance and repair duties assigned by management.
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician Diesel Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician.
Proven experience servicing and repairing heavy construction machinery and commercial vehicles.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines hydraulic systems electrical systems transmissions braking systems and diagnostic procedures.
Ability to interpret technical manuals service documentation and maintenance schedules.
Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
Must be physically fit and willing to carry out manual work related to the assigned job.
Basic knowledge of spoken and written English.
Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
Technical qualification or certification in Heavy Equipment Mechanics Diesel Mechanics Automotive Technology or a related field.
Experience working within the road construction civil engineering or infrastructure sector.
Experience using electronic diagnostic equipment and manufacturer service tools.
Welding or fabrication skills are considered an advantage.
Valid driving licence (Category C or higher) is considered an asset.
Required Skills:
