About the Role
Youll work on the software stack that runs inside Arctic Wolfs network sensors physical appliances and
virtual sensors deployed across customer environments. The team owns everything from the on-sensor Go
services and Python tooling to the AWS infrastructure that manages monitors and upgrades sensors at
scale. Youll write code that ships inside customer networks runs 24/7 without human intervention and
needs to be correct the first time.
Build and maintain on-sensor Go and Python services daemons config managers upgrade
pipelines and tunneling infrastructure
Own AWS infrastructure used for sensor management: ECS services CloudFormation stacks EC2
instances S3 artifact pipelines and CloudWatch observability
Improve and extend the CI/CD platform: Jenkins pipelines Docker build environments Robot
Framework cell tests that spin up virtual sensors on AWS/Azure/VMware and validate end-to-end
behaviour
Debug hard problems: kernel networking (eBPF/XDP Suricata iptables) multi-platform VM
orchestration Ansible-based sensor provisioning and production incidents traced through
CloudWatch Logs Insights
Contribute to sensor upgrade and deployment automation (Ansible Debian packaging
manifest-driven rollouts)
Work across the full stack from BPF maps pinned on a sensors kernel to ECS services in AWS
serving REST APIs to the portal
35 years of professional software development experience
Strong AWS hands-on experience: EC2 ECS (Fargate EC2 launch types) S3 CloudWatch (Logs
Metrics Alarms) CloudFormation or CDK IAM
Proficiency in Python writing production services CLI tooling and test automation (Robot
Framework or pytest)
Comfort with Linux systems programming: systemd networking (iptables interfaces routing)
Debian packaging shell scripting
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins GitHub Actions or equivalent) and Docker-based build
environments
Strong debugging skills able to trace a production problem from a CloudWatch log through to a
root cause in code
Ansible for fleet configuration and provisioning
Networking depth: VLANs SPAN/TAP modes DHCP tunneling protocols (FRP WireGuard)
eBPF/XDP or kernel networking (Suricata nmap packet capture)
Experience with VMware Hyper-V or Azure for infrastructure testing
Familiarity with sensor/appliance software or embedded Linux
