Job Summary

Varaha is a global climatetechnology venture that designs and scales carbonremoval solutions such as regenerative agriculture afforestation biochar production and enhanced rock just three years the company has removed and avoided more than one million tonnes of CO₂ channeling the majority of its revenue back to over 100000 smallholder land stewards across South Asia and SubSaharan Africa. Backed by leading investors and led by a team with deep experience in agritech and sustainability Varaha is expanding its operational footprint and needs reliable data to measure impact refine methodologies and report to stakeholders.

The Data Collector will be a critical link in Varahas data pipeline. Working from the field office in Wardha the incumbent will travel to partner farms community sites and project locations to gather both quantitative measurements (e.g. soil samples tree growth metrics) and qualitative insights (e.g. farmer interviews observation notes). All data must be recorded promptly entered into the companys spreadsheet systems and crosschecked for consistency. The role demands strict adherence to Varahas datacollection protocols which are designed to meet scientific standards and ensure that the information can be used for rigorous impact assessment.

Key duties include conducting scheduled surveys setting up mobile datacollection tools and transcribing handwritten notes into digital formats. The Data Collector will also be responsible for flagging any anomalies missing entries or outofrange values so that the research team can investigate promptly. Basic reporting tasks such as summarising weekly data collection totals or preparing simple visual tables for internal briefings are part of the job. Coordination with supervisors field coordinators and local land stewards is essential to keep the data flow smooth and to respect local customs and confidentiality requirements.

Success in this role hinges on a high degree of accuracy an eye for detail and the ability to work independently in remote environments. The candidate must be comfortable using Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets as well as any mobile survey applications provided by Varaha. Strong communication skills are required to interact respectfully with farmers community leaders and internal team members. While prior professional experience is not mandatory familiarity with basic survey techniques and a willingness to learn Varahas specific data standards are essential.

Varaha offers a sixmonth contract that provides exposure to cuttingedge climatetech projects and the chance to see how highquality data directly influences largescale carbonremoval initiatives. The position is onsite in Wardha allowing the Data Collector to experience the daytoday realities of smallholder agriculture and to contribute meaningfully to Varahas mission of scaling sustainable landuse practices.

Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent be proficient with spreadsheet software and demonstrate a strong commitment to data integrity and ethical handling of sensitive information. The role does not require advanced technical certifications but a basic understanding of survey methodology and field data collection will be advantageous.
