Job Description: Control Panel Design Engineer

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Control Panel Design Engineerwith strong expertise in electrical control panel design for semiconductor equipment / industrial automation systems. The candidate should have hands-on experience in preparing electrical schematics using E3S / performing wire selection load and power calculations and ensuring design compliance with UL 508A standards.

The role involves working closely with cross-functional engineering manufacturing and customer teams to design review and release control panel documentation for semiconductor tools and related equipment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical control panelsfor semiconductor equipment and automation systems.
  • Prepare and modify electrical schematics wiring diagrams interconnection diagrams and panel layoutsusing E3S / .
  • Perform wire sizing cable selection fuse / breaker selection and power distribution calculations.
  • Carry out load calculations power consumption analysis voltage drop calculations and heat dissipation checksfor control panels.
  • Select appropriate electrical components such as:
    • Power supplies
    • Circuit breakers
    • Relays and contactors
    • Terminal blocks
    • Connectors
    • Fuses
    • Transformers
    • PLC / I/O modules
    • Safety devices
  • Ensure panel designs are compliant with UL 508A customer standards and applicable electrical safety requirements.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation including:
    • Electrical schematics
    • Bill of Materials BOM
    • Wire lists
    • Cable schedules
    • Terminal plans
    • Panel assembly drawings
    • Design change documentation
  • Support design reviews technical discussions and issue resolutionwith internal and customer engineering teams.
  • Work with manufacturing / assembly teams to resolve wiring layout and panel build-related issues.
  • Review existing designs and propose improvements for cost reduction manufacturability reliability and compliance.
  • Support engineering change requests ECR / ECO / ECN related to control panel design.
  • Ensure quality accuracy and on-time delivery of engineering outputs.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 4 to 8 years of experiencein electrical control panel design preferably for semiconductor equipment capital equipment industrial automation or manufacturing systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with E3S / for schematic design and electrical documentation.
  • Good knowledge of electrical schematics control wiring power wiringgrounding shielding and interconnection design.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Wire selection and wire sizing
    • Current carrying capacity
    • Voltage drop calculation
    • Load calculation
    • Power budget calculation
    • Protection device selection
    • Heat load / panel thermal considerations
  • Working knowledge of UL 508A standardsfor industrial control panels.
  • Experience in electrical component selection and BOM preparation.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer specifications electrical standards and designguidelines.
  • Good understanding of panel layout segregation of power and control wiringgrounding practices and safety requirements.
  • Experience in working with engineering change management processes.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work withglobal engineering teams.

Preferred /Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience working with semiconductor OEMs / semiconductor equipment manufacturing companies.
  • Knowledge of SEMI standardsand cleanroom equipment design requirements.
  • Experience with PLC-based control systems I/O modules sensors actuators safety circuits and interlocks.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical EPLAN or similar electrical design tools.
  • Understanding of UL CE NFPA 79 IEC 60204-1 or other electrical safety standards.
  • Experience in control panel validation troubleshooting and manufacturing support.
  • Knowledge of cable harness design connector selection and machine wiring practices.
  • Exposure to SAP / PLM / Windchill / Teamcenter or similar engineering release systems.
