You are responsible for

As Compliance Counsel for the Indian Sub-continent Zone (ISC) you will be responsible for developing and deploying the Zone compliance program and advising the business on legal compliance matters across ISC. You will conduct and coordinate investigations reported through SpeakUp and other reporting channels. You will also help strengthen Philips global Market compliance program by sharing insights and best practices from ISC.

Your key areas of responsibility include:

Compliance program development and implementation

  • Support the Head of Legal and the ISC leadership team in developing the annual Zone compliance program based on local and global priorities.
  • Drive and coordinate the implementation of initiatives included in the annual Zone compliance program including the ISC Compliance Program 2.0 and India compliance enhancement work. Monitor execution through the ISC Compliance Committee track agreed remediation actions and maintain appropriate evidence and documentation.
  • Translate identified risks audit findings and lessons learned into sustainable controls action plans monitoring activities and evidence-based reporting.
  • Monitor General Business Principles (GBP) and legal compliance controls identify deficiencies and follow up on remediation actions.
  • Conduct periodic compliance risk assessments and use the outcomes to shape training communications monitoring and risk-mitigation measures.
  • Develop and deliver practical risk-based compliance training and communications for employees leaders and relevant third parties.
  • Support compliance due diligence onboarding and ongoing monitoring of distributors channel partners agents consultants and other third parties across ISC.
  • Promote a strong culture of integrity and help embed compliance requirements in business processes and decision-making.

Legal compliance advice

  • Provide timely and pragmatic advice on legal compliance matters including:
  • Anti-bribery and anti-corruption;
  • Healthcare compliance and interactions with healthcare professionals and government officials;
  • Competition and antitrust law;
  • Conflicts of interest;
  • Gifts hospitality sponsorships grants and donations;
  • Third-party compliance risks;
  • Export controls trade restrictions and sanctions;
  • Privacy and data-protection compliance; and
  • Other compliance risks relevant to Philips operations across ISC.
  • Advise on applicable laws regulations and industry standards in the countries comprising ISC including relevant anti-corruption competition healthcare medical device and product marketing requirements.
  • Competition and antitrust compliance in coordination with the Market Legal Counsel and relevant subject-matter experts.
  • Advise on privacy and data-protection compliance matters relevant to Philips operations across ISC in coordination with the Market Legal Counsel Privacy Office and relevant Group Legal subject-matter experts.
  • Partner closely with the ISC Legal team business leaders Finance Human Resources Internal Audit Quality Regulatory Information Security and other relevant functions.

Investigations and remediation

  • Conduct and coordinate investigations arising from SpeakUp reports and other compliance concerns in accordance with Philips investigation standards and applicable local laws.
  • Develop investigation plans conduct interviews review relevant records and prepare clear objective investigation reports.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to determine appropriate remediation disciplinary and control-improvement actions.
  • Monitor agreed corrective actions through completion and identify broader lessons and trends.
  • Handle sensitive matters with independence sound judgment confidentiality and respect for all parties involved.

Contribution to the global Market compliance program

  • Identify and share GBP and legal compliance best practices that can be leveraged across Markets.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the annual global Market compliance program and minimum compliance requirements.
  • Support or advise on GBP investigations escalated from Markets where required.
  • Provide insights on emerging compliance risks regulatory developments and enforcement trends across ISC.

You are a part of

You will be part of the ISC Legal team and a global team of Legal Compliance professionals. This is a highly skilled and collaborative group that plays an instrumental role in promoting integrity and driving compliance throughout Philips.

To succeed in this role you will need

  • A law degree from a recognised institution; an LL.M. or another relevant postgraduate qualification would be an advantage.
  • Preferably qualification or enrolment to practise law in at least one ISC jurisdiction.
  • At least 513 years of relevant experience in legal compliance investigations or as a compliance officer preferably within a multinational company healthcare medical device pharmaceutical or other regulated industry.
  • Sound knowledge of anti-bribery competition and healthcare compliance requirements applicable within ISC.
  • Experience conducting or supporting internal investigations and managing sensitive matters.
  • Experience developing or implementing compliance programs controls training and risk assessments.
  • An understanding of third-party compliance risks involving distributors channel partners agents and interactions with public-sector or government-linked customers.
  • Excellent written and spoken English. Knowledge of one or more languages used within ISC would be an advantage.
  • Strong stakeholder-management and influencing skills with the confidence to engage senior business leaders.
  • The ability to provide clear practical and commercially balanced advice while maintaining independence and integrity.
  • Willingness to travel within ISC as required.
