ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) is an integral part of UNESCO and is a specialized Category-I institute that works on education for peace and sustainable development to foster global citizenship. MGIEPs Programme Design and Evaluation Team works with all projects at the Institute in pursuit to enhance the quality and impact of UNESCO MGIEPs initiatives by applying evidence-based approaches that will enable data-driven policy recommendations and support the delivery of sustainable cost-effective programs.

MAIN TASKS AND SERVICES

Under the overall authority of the Director of UNESCO MGIEP and the direct supervision of the Senior Project Officer the incumbent Associate Project Officer- Statistics will be responsible for Statistical analysis of research data and would undertake the following tasks:

  • Create database structure to save and store the data for further analysis
  • Develop sampling plans and calculate sample requirements based on the scope of the study
  • Support development of appropriate research tools and instruments
  • Write the relevant codes in statistical packages such as R and Python to automate the data analysis
  • Carry out psychometric analysis using methods such as CTT IRT etc. of the study instruments
  • Carry out the statistical data analysis of various projects in alignment with the research design
  • Support data collection through primary and secondary methods.
  • Provide programmatic coordination and support in the implementation of assessment studies.
  • Write and present technical and analytical reports
  • Contribute to other tasks related to programme design and evaluation
  • Support any other institute-wide activities as and when they arise.
  • Carry out any other task assigned by the supervisor.

DURATION OF THE CONTRACT

The contract shall be for 1 year with a possibility of extension subject to the availability of funds and satisfactory performance. There will be a probation period of 6 months.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Advanced University degree (equivalent to a Masters) in statistics applied statistics (population studies biostatistics education etc.) or data science.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Up to 2 (two) years of professional experience related to statistical data analysis psychometrics sampling and report writing in the field of education or social sciences.

BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS

UNESCOs salaries consist of a basic salary and other benefits which may include if applicable: 30 days annual leave reimbursement of medical insurance (up to 5% of base salary) pension plan (up to 10% of base salary) etc. The Starting Annual Salary for this position is INR2334091. The salary for service contracts is taxable and it is the responsibility of the contract holder to pay the taxes.
