We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in therole Assistant Vice President Financial Accounting Servco

Purpose of the role

Global Finance is integral to HSBCs purpose and strategy playing a valued role in managing finances and costs and deploying capital in the most effective way. Finance Operations (FinOps) is core to Global Finance and provides a variety of financial support services to Financial Control (In-Country) teams across the HSBC current open position is in Financial Accounting team that involves period end close accounting controls balance sheet substantiation and Financial Reporting leading into IFRS FINREP GSIB & CE reporting which is a key input into the Group Financial/Regulatory Reporting role holder will be responsible for leading and managing the period end close process along with Saracen reporting and Balance sheet reconciliation & addition to leading and supervising the teams performance and managing stakeholders the role holder is required to drive strategic & tactical transformation within the process.

In this role you will:

  • Ensure control frame intact and all the Internal controls are adhered to in Fusion with proper substantiation submission of Financials to the Financial Controller on a monthly basis with analysis and commentary (includes P&L and Balance Sheet as per Saracen).
  • Strict adherence to Financial Control Manual and ensure that the accounting across HGSU and HGMS happens as per the applicable standards and guidance as laid down in Group FIM.
  • Ensure completeness accuracy of income / costs to facilitate accurate reporting of financial data. Closely monitor the funds position and ensure that the Forex risks are adequately covered under guidance from Financial Controller
  • Be a strong team player and demonstrate Team management responsibilities with respect to process delivery team administration & motivation and career development of self and the team members
  • Ensure submissions for surveys to external agencies/regulatory agencies (if any)
  • Facilitate the various Audits (Internal Group and Statutory) and ensure Smooth completion of Statutory and Internal Audits Facilitate BS substantiation process and 2 Line of Defence (LoD) reviews that there are no adverse observations and the suggestions for improvement are actioned within the agreed timelines.
  • Be the SME on Financial Accounting process knowledge and provide support in analyzing and assessing regulatory & accounting policy data process and system changes and lead the implementation
  • Participate and lead calls with stakeholders for effective service delivery demonstrate ability to resolve complex issues and provide accounting solutions and establish and maintain effective relationship with Business Partners and identify areas of service improvements by implementing regular calls and feedback mechanisms.

To be successful you will:

  • Qualified or semi qualified Accountant (CA CWA ACCA) Accounting with 10 years of experience in the financial services domain should be proficient in financial statement closure procedures also experience of assurance and compliance reviews/ SOX related reviews is preferred
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a record of developing individuals and large teams
  • Capability to understand analyze and interpret numeric data project management / PowerPoint and presentation skills
  • Advanced technical skills (Xceptor Python or other similar systems) including experience in Automation tools
  • Would be responsible for ensuring assurance related to balance sheet accounts including substantiation and adherence to FIM
  • Experience of interacting with internal and external auditors
  • Good understanding of FTP Saracen Clear view
  • Strong technical understanding of accounting principles and demonstrated competence in their application
