About our client
A leading bank in Hong Kong is seeking a Data Governance & Quality Manager to strengthen data governance data quality and regulatory data compliance across the business. Partnering with data owners and stewards across business lines youll play a central role in the banks HKMA Granular Data Reporting (GDR 3.0) readiness while acting as a data workstream lead on its wider data transformation agenda.
Responsibilities
- Identify and manage Critical Data Elements (CDEs) map data lineage and maintain data cataloguing and data quality across the bank
- Support HKMA Granular Data Reporting (GDR 3.0) readiness interpreting requirements mapping submission attributes to source systems and defining validation and reconciliation controls
- Drive data quality control end to end: profiling rule definition monitoring exception reporting and issue management including root cause analysis and remediation tracking
- Support and enforce data governance policies and standards ensuring governance decisions are made documented and adhered to
- Partner with data owners and stewards across business lines to agree ownership negotiate priorities and secure buy-in for changes to data processes and controls
- Act as a data workstream lead on the data transformation agenda translating business requirements into deliverables and working with IT and project teams through delivery
- Chair or contribute to data quality issue-management forums and produce clear reporting on data quality governance adherence and transformation progress for senior stakeholders
Requirements
- Strong banking background with proven expertise in data compliance
- Genuine conceptual command of data governance data management data quality and data stewardship as distinct but connected disciplines
- Hands-on involvement in HKMA Granular Data Reporting (GDR) with a working understanding of submission requirements attribute definitions validation and reconciliation
- Demonstrable experience ensuring adherence to HKMA SPM BCBS 239 risk data aggregation principles and the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO)
- Exceptional stakeholder management with a track record of influencing business data owners who do not report into them
- Experience of data issue management and working within transformation or change programmes
- Familiarity with data governance and data quality tooling (e.g. Collibra Informatica Alation) advantageous
- Cantonese and English; Mandarin an advantage
