Position Overview

The Associate Director IT AI Solutions is accountable for shaping and executing endtoend AI solutions that support Gilead Chinas business objectives aligned with Gileads global digital data and AI strategies.

This role serves as the primary IT lead for AI solution delivery in China working closely with business stakeholders and global teams to translate prioritized use cases into scalable compliant and valuedriven AI capabilities. The Associate Director ensures solutions are delivered from ideation through production while operating within Gileads global governance frameworks and China regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

AI Solution Strategy & Business Partnership

• Partner with China business leaders across Commercial Medical R&D Market Access Supply Chain Finance and other functions to identify and refine highvalue AI use cases.
• Shape the China AI solutions roadmap in alignment with Gileads global AI and digital strategies.
• Translate business needs into clearly defined AI solution requirements delivery plans and success metrics.
• Act as a trusted IT advisor on AI capabilities risks and responsible adoption.

EndtoEnd AI Solution Delivery

• Lead the endtoend lifecycle of approved AI solutions including:
  • Use case definition and value assessment
  • Data readiness integration and quality management
  • Model development (e.g. machine learning advanced analytics generative AI)
  • System integration deployment and operationalization
  • Ongoing monitoring optimization and lifecycle management
• Ensure AI solutions are productionready scalable secure and well-integrated into business processes.
• Apply agile and productoriented delivery practices to ensure timely and highquality outcomes.

Architecture Platforms & Data Enablement

• Ensure China AI solutions align with Gileads global reference architecture platforms and standards.
• Adapt global AI and data platforms to meet Chinas business requirements data residency and regulatory constraints.
• Collaborate with data engineering cloud application and security teams to ensure robust and reliable AIready infrastructure and data pipelines.

Governance Risk & Compliance

• Ensure AI solutions comply with Gilead global IT data privacy security and AI governance frameworks.
• Operationalize responsible AI practices including model validation explainability documentation and risk mitigation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable China regulations related to data protection cybersecurity and AI usage.
• Support audits risk reviews and internal governance processes related to AI solutions.

Vendor & Partner Management

• Evaluate onboard and manage external vendors and AI technology partners supporting China initiatives.
• Establish clear delivery governance milestones and performance metrics to ensure quality value and cost effectiveness.

People Leadership & Capability Building

• Lead and develop a team of contractors focused on delivering AI and advanced analytics.
• Provide coaching technical guidance and performance feedback to build sustainable local AI capabilities.
• Promote collaboration continuous improvement and adherence to global best practices within the China IT organization.

Global Collaboration

• Act as the primary China IT contact for AI solution delivery within global IT and data communities.
• Contribute China perspectives use cases and lessons learned to global forums.
• Support localization and adoption of global AI solutions within the China environment.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Data Science Engineering Information Systems or a related field.

Professional Experience

• 10 years of progressive IT experience with at least 5 years in AI data analytics or advanced digital solutions.
• Demonstrated experience delivering endtoend AI or advanced analytics solutions in an enterprise environment.
• Experience working in regulated industries (e.g. life sciences healthcare pharmaceuticals) strongly preferred.
• Experience operating in a global matrixed organization.

Technical & Functional Competencies

• Solid understanding of:
  • AI machine learning analytics and generative AI concepts
  • Data platforms cloud services and AI solution toolchains
  • Enterprise application integration and solution architecture
• Familiarity with AI delivery practices including Agile productbased delivery and MLOps concepts.
• Strong awareness of data privacy security and compliance considerations.

Leadership & Communication Skills

• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to bridge business and technical teams.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate in a matrix environment.
• Structured executionoriented mindset with attention to quality and risk management.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin (written and spoken).
