WHAT YOULL DO:

  • Provides personal support services(i.e. activities of daily living lifts/transfers bowel/bladder routines dressing/undressing skin care respiration meals/drinks general hygiene)to clients in their homes.
  • Be part of the UNIFOR union

WHAT YOULL BRING:

  • A passion for providing exceptional personal support services to male/female clients
  • Ability to lift and transfer clients
  • Manages time in co-operation with clients to complete tasks
  • Ability to accept direction from clients regarding services
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving conflict resolution and judgment skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with others
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 computer skills (Outlook Word)

WHAT HOURS YOULL WORK:

  • This opportunity has no set permanent work schedule.
  • Youmust be availableas follows:
    • 3 days a week between Monday to Sunday
    • Must be able to work an 8-hour shift either 4pm - 12am or 12am - 8am(overnight)
    • of the 3 days 1 must be a Saturday or Sunday day shift from 8am - 4pm
  • NOTE - IN ADDITION there may be more opportunitis to be able to cover other shifts including:
    • 8am - 4pm
    • 8am 12pm
    • 9am 1pm
    • 9am 1:30pm
    • 5pm 9pm
    • 6pm 12am

HOW TO QUALIFY:

  • Completed a PSW Program that meets the appropriate standards established by the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities the National Association of Career Colleges or the Ontario Community Support Association and must be 600 hours in duration (including class time and practical experience time). This also includes a PSW Program from an Adult and Continuing Education School Board.
  • 1-year PSW experience gained in the physical disabilities sector
  • Ontario Personal Support Worker Association (OPSWA) membership would be considered an asset
  • Proof of First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Person)
