WS AM Lifecycle Supervisor

We are seeking a Waste Services Asset Management (WS AM) Lifecycle Supervisor to lead our asset lifecycle renewal this pivotal role you will take ownership of the long-term health planning and management of a vital infrastructure portfolio valued at over $250 million.

This isnt just about maintaining systems; its about driving high-impact data-driven strategy. Leading a dedicated team of technologists and Asset Management professionals you will oversee the procurement of engineering consultants manage authenticated work packages and champion the implementation of ISO 55000 best practices and the C627 Climate Resilience Policy. The insights and programs your team develops will serve as the foundation for the Waste Service Capital Lifecycle and Renewal Programs directly empowering corporate leadership Utility Committee members and City Council to make informed decisions for our community.

What will you do

• Lead the collaborative development and maintenance of the Waste Services Branchs Asset Management Plans and Strategic Asset Management Plans across multiple stakeholder groups
• Supervise the Waste Services Lifecycle renewal program and major facilities ensuring alignment with the C627 Climate Resilience Policy and climate action programs
• Provide expert guidance on asset lifecycles and champion the implementation of ISO 55000 best practices for industrial and infrastructure assets
• Manage the collection and analysis of asset data to produce infrastructure maintenance (RIMS) deferred maintenance asset utilization and financial/compliance reports
• Procure external engineering consultants and oversee team-led condition assessments and energy audits ensuring strict compliance with City of Edmonton standards
• Apply advanced technical expertise including Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) to partner with plant operations and implement robust risk mitigation strategies
• Evaluate engineering scope-of-work packages and strategically prioritize consultant recommendations into actionable high-priority capital projects
• Develop maintain and enforce Condition Assessment and Energy Audit guidelines specific to the Waste Services Branch to ensure long-term regulatory compliance
• Lead and exemplify a collaborative unit culture that directly supports the City Operations Vision Mission and core Cultural Commitments
• Oversee all unit talent processesincluding recruitment performance development and engagementwhile equipping staff with the competencies needed to excel

• Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Engineering Architecture or related discipline
• Minimum of seven (7) years progressive experience
• Certification as a Certified Asset Management Professional (CAMP) and/or Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) or the ability to obtain certification within three (3) years of the start date

Assets:

• Certification or coursework/training in key areas such as project management fleet and facility management strategic planning financial management public administration change management or specialized leadership development
• Project Management (PMP) training and experience
• Enviso and environmental training and experience

Skills required for success:

• Experience and knowledge of complex facilities their systems energy/climate impacts and asset management in industrial plant operations and maintenance
• Demonstrated leadership team building skills and experience with Human Resources (recruitment coaching and performance management)
• Ability to analyze complex information and make timely decisions coupled with effective program/project and contract management skills
• Proficient verbal and written communication conflict resolution and negotiation skills and an ability to work in a collaborative integrative manner

Conditions of employment & work environment:

• Up to: 1 permanent full-time position
• Hours of work: 36.9 hours per week Monday - Friday
• Salary: $108838.80 - $136046.09 (Annually)
• This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and office
• This position is eligible for the EDO program (Earned Day Off)
• Valid Alberta Class 5 drivers licence (or provincial equivalent)
• Obtaining and maintaining a City Drivers permit is a requirement of this position. Must obtain business auto insurance for personal vehicle use on City business
• The role may necessitate the use of personal transportation to be reimbursed in accordance with the City of Edmonton policy. This may require business auto insurance
