WORKFORCE DRIVER Part-Time On-Call
Job Summary
WHATS THE JOB
The Part-Time / On-Call Workforce Driver is responsible for safely transporting employees to and from remote camps and designated work locations while maintaining the highest standards of safety professionalism and compliance.
This position requires a valid Class 4 drivers license and a clean driving record. The driver must be capable of safely operating company vehicles in all weather and road conditions including winter snow ice rain poor visibility gravel roads and other challenging conditions.
The position requires long-distance travel and overnight stays at remote camp locations. When the driver is not transporting employees to or from camps they will remain available on an on-call basis to complete approved operational errands and support camp operations.
The driver is expected to comply with all company policies and procedures applicable provincial and federal legislation transportation requirements client requirements camp rules and all applicable health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Transportation
- Safely transport employees to and from remote camps and designated work locations.
- Complete scheduled transportation runs between communities airports staging areas and camp locations.
- Ensure all passengers are properly secured with seatbelts before the vehicle is in motion.
- Maintain a professional respectful and safe environment for all passengers.
- Follow approved travel schedules and routes while making safety the highest priority.
- Safely manage long-distance trips and remote-area travel.
- Report any delays road closures unsafe conditions incidents or changes to travel plans to management.
On-Call Operational Support
When not transporting employees to or from camps the Workforce Driver will remain available for assigned operational errands and may be required to:
- Transport employees to drug and alcohol testing appointments.
- Pick up and deliver supplies required for camp operations.
- Pick up parts equipment food documents or other authorized materials.
- Complete deliveries and pickups between camps offices suppliers and other designated locations.
- Assist with other transportation-related or operational errands as directed by management.
- Respond to short-notice transportation and operational requirements when available and scheduled.
Safe Driving Requirements
- Maintain a valid Class 4 drivers license at all times.
- Maintain a clean and acceptable driving record.
- Drive defensively and comply with all applicable traffic laws and regulations.
- Operate vehicles safely in all weather and road conditions.
- Adjust speed and driving practices to match road weather visibility traffic and vehicle conditions.
- Exercise extreme caution during winter driving including snow ice freezing rain drifting snow and reduced visibility.
- Never operate a vehicle while impaired fatigued distracted or otherwise unfit to drive.
- Never use a mobile device while driving except where legally permitted and in accordance with company policy.
- Stop or delay travel when conditions are determined to be unsafe and immediately communicate the concern to management.
- Safety must always take priority over schedules deadlines or operational convenience.
Communication and Check-In Requirements
- Maintain regular communication with management throughout transportation assignments and long-distance trips.
- Complete required check-ins before during and after travel as directed by the company.
- Provide updates regarding departure arrival delays road conditions and unexpected circumstances.
- Immediately report accidents near misses vehicle damage unsafe conditions breakdowns or other incidents.
- Maintain reliable communication while travelling in remote areas.
- Follow all established emergency communication and escalation procedures.
Vehicle Inspections and Maintenance
- Complete required daily vehicle inspections before operating company vehicles.
- Conduct additional inspections when required following long-distance travel or when vehicle conditions change.
- Immediately report mechanical problems vehicle damage warning lights defects or other safety concerns.
- Ensure company vehicles remain clean organized fueled and roadworthy.
- Monitor vehicle maintenance requirements and notify management when servicing is required.
- Assist with approved vehicle maintenance servicing cleaning fueling and repairs as required.
- Ensure required emergency equipment and supplies are present and in good condition.
- Maintain accurate inspection maintenance fuel and other required vehicle records.
- Secure company vehicles keys equipment and property when vehicles are not in use.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all company health safety environmental security and operational policies and procedures.
- Follow all applicable provincial and federal legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Follow all applicable Manitoba transportation and drivers license requirements.
- Follow client-specific requirements and camp/site rules.
- Complete all required company client site and driver training.
- Participate in safety meetings orientations inspections and training as required.
- Report all incidents near misses hazards unsafe conditions and policy violations immediately.
- Complete required documentation accurately and on time.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when transporting employees or handling company information.
- Never bypass or ignore safety procedures.
- Exercise Stop Work authority when a task vehicle road condition weather condition or other circumstance presents an unacceptable safety risk.
Qualifications :
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
- Valid Class 4 drivers license.
- Clean and acceptable drivers abstract.
- Demonstrated safe driving history.
- Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions.
- Experience with long-distance driving is an asset.
- Experience driving in rural northern remote or winter conditions is an asset.
- Ability to complete all required company and client training.
- Ability to pass required site access and employment requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and dependable with a strong attendance record.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to respond to changing operational requirements and short-notice assignments.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings weekends holidays and overnight assignments.
- Willingness and ability to stay at remote camps when required.
- Ability to safely load unload carry and transport supplies and equipment as required.
- Must be able to successfully pass a Criminal Background Check
- Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing

Work schedule and remuneration:
The Drivers schedule varies and typically include Sunday Monday and Tuesdays plus on-call as required. Site locations are in remote settings where you may be required to stay overnight and return the next day. You may be required to work nights weekdays weekends and general holidays. Wages are paid daily starting at $250 per day each day worked.
