OVERVIEW:
Reporting to theWellness Program Supervisor the Wellness Program Facilitator will deliverCultural programing to our Care Homes in the eight (8) Southeast Communitiesand in Winnipeg. The Wellness Program Facilitator will work from a communitycultural development perspective to build and maintain working relationshipswith children youth and families. The Wellness Program Facilitator willpartner with community leadership and community organizations to deliveractivities aimed at children and youth in our Care Homes. The Wellness ProgramFacilitator will work alongside our partners in service to improve theexperiences of children Elders and families.
KEYRESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan organize and coordinate culturally relevantprograms and resources aimed to promote recreation and wellness amongst FirstNations Children and Youth and families.
Establish positive and effective partnerships withcommunities resources and service collaterals on and off reserve.
Provide notice of programing to all collaterals in atimely fashion.
Host activities and events that are responsive tocommunity needs and strengths for the purpose of supporting healthy recreationand community engagement.
Practice inclusion that includes all
community members in events and encourages SAI homesto engage with others at community events.
Maintain and update Program budget and coordinate thepurchase of food and activity related supplies for the team.
Develop administer and continue to evolve the programwhile building positive working relationships with community and partneredorganizations.
Promote health and wellness which will help childrenand youth thrive physically mentally emotionally and spiritually.
Work closely with the Running White Wolves YouthCouncil to engage local community members to help participate in facilitatingprograms.
Complete documentation and reports as required.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
2-3 years of direct experience working with childrenyouth and families.
Must be willing to regularly travel to Southeastcommunities.
Training and/or professional experience working inchild development.
Knowledge and experience working with our SoutheastFirst Nations communities.
Personal experience successfully supporting thewholistic wellness of children young people and families.
Strong inter-personal communication skills and able towork as a team.
Personable and approachable with the capacity tobuild effective working relationships.
Ability to apply a strengths-based approach to workingwith people with diverse life experiences.
Ability to plan and facilitate cultural relevantprogramming/activities.
Demonstrate knowledge and/or understanding of FirstNations perspectives culture and philosophies.
Well-developed documentation skills.
Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be resourceful with a high attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize tasks and effectively managemultiple priorities.
Satisfactory child and adult abuse registry checkscriminal record check with vulnerable sector search and PCC required.
Valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle with asatisfactory driver abstract required.
Various hours based on the needs of children and youth days evenings and weekends.
This position includes regularly scheduled travel toFirst Nations communities.
Must be able to travel to the communities as requiredby car boat and plane.
Ability of speak Anishinaabe is an asset.
