Vice President, Fleet & Electrification

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit including GO Expansion Light Rail Transit routes and major expansions to Torontos subway system to get people where they need to go better faster and easier. We are seeking an accomplished and visionary leader to serve as Vice President Fleet & Electrification. Reporting to the executive leadership team this role is responsible for providing strategic leadership technical authority and asset oversight for the organizations rail fleet bus fleet and electrification assets.

The Vice President will ensure the Fleet and Electrification portfolios are safe and fit for purpose and aligned with organizational priorities The role will establish and sustain a high-performing organization that maximizes the use of world-class talent technology systems and processes to support the successful delivery operation maintenance and lifecycle management of complex transit infrastructure.

As the technical authority and asset owner for the Fleet assets and Electrification systems the incumbent will oversee heavy rail fleet light rail fleet bus fleet and current and future electrification assets.

What will I be doing

• Provide strategic leadership and technical expertise to ensure Fleet & Electrification asset and project-based activities are prioritized aligned and delivered in support of organizational goals and objectives.

• Develop and execute long-term strategies for rail fleet assets bus fleet assets electrification infrastructure and lifecycle management that support operational excellence and sustainable growth.

• Lead the development and implementation of engineering standards policies procedures and assurance programs and approve technical standards.

• Establish and sustain a high-performing organization that maximizes the use of talent technology systems and resources.

• Foster a culture of innovation accountability collaboration safety and continuous improvement.

• Serve as the senior technical authority for rail fleet bus fleet and electrification systems.

• Provide executive oversight for the design implementation operation maintenance renewal and expansion of assets.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory environmental safety and engineering requirements.

• Oversee systems integration technical risk management and engineering reviews to support safe and reliable operations.

• Lead asset management state of good repair (SOGR) and lifecycle planning programs to maximize asset reliability performance and value.

• Establish performance frameworks key performance indicators and long-term renewal strategies that support operational readiness and service excellence.

• Promote innovation and industry best practices to enhance asset performance operational efficiency and service reliability.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies regulators municipalities utilities contractors consultants and industry partners.

• Represent the organization on technical infrastructure safety and regulatory matters.

• Lead capital and operating budget planning financial oversight procurement activities and contract management.

• Manage frameworks for operational financial engineering project and safety risk.

• Lead mentor and develop a large multidisciplinary workforce through subordinate directors and managers fostering a culture of accountability engagement inclusion and continuous learning.

• Ensure the organization delivers safe reliable sustainable and customer-focused transportation infrastructure and services.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need

• Bachelors degree in Engineering from a recognized institution.

• Professional Engineer (.) designation or eligibility to obtain . status in the applicable jurisdiction. Internationally recognized engineering qualifications will be considered with the expectation of obtaining local accreditation as required.

• Minimum fifteen (15) years experience in progressively senior engineering leadership roles; experience in the transportation industry and public sector is anasset

• In-depth knowledge of Railway legislation Transport Canada Rules and Regulations and Industry Standards as well as applicable International legislation regulations guidelines and standards.

• Demonstrated expertise in rail transit transportation infrastructure fleet operations or maintenance electrification systems asset management and engineering governance.

• Experience managing large multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder environments.

• Proven success in strategic planning organizational transformation financial stewardship and operational excellence.
