Position Summary
The Transportation & Installation Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the planning coordination and execution of all deliveries to project sites including precast panels braces and the installation equipment trailer. This role manages driver recruitment and coordination optimizes transportation logistics including route planning and height restrictions and ensures panels and materials are sequenced and delivered in alignment with project schedules.
The role requires strong organizational skills cross-functional collaboration and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and hire drivers for the transportation and delivery of precast panels braces and the installation equipment trailer to project sites.
- Review and coordinate travel routes for panel delivery accounting for height restrictions road conditions and permit requirements.
- Plan and manage the delivery sequencing of panels braces and equipment on site to align with installation schedules and project milestones.
- Collaborate with client project managers and coordinators to align transportation and installation activities with overall project timelines.
- Collaborate with steel fabricators to coordinate panel readiness delivery timing and installation sequencing.
- Review and map transportation and delivery costs for panels braces and equipment; track and manage actuals versus projected budgets.
- Create and distribute scheduling documentation for installation and delivery projects to all relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain clear and proactive communication with internal teams project managers and external partners regarding logistics progress and site conditions.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures and ensure transportation and delivery activities comply with applicable regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Installation & Logistics Manager.
Qualifications
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Drivers License; Class 1 or experience with oversized load regulations considered an asset.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in transportation logistics construction coordination precast concrete or a related industry.
- Experience with route planning and knowledge of height weight and permit restrictions for oversized load transportation.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent deliveries and installation schedules.
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with project managers clients steel fabricators and field installation teams.
- Reliable punctual and highly adaptable in a dynamic deadline-driven environment.
- Proficient with scheduling software spreadsheets and project tracking tools; ability to create and distribute clear logistical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to track and analyze transportation costs against projected budgets.
Preferred Assets
- Previous experience in precast concrete transportation delivery logistics or construction supply chain coordination.
- Experience working with steel fabricators cladding contractors or in a multi-trade construction environment.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings delivery schedules and panel sequencing plans.
- Experience with cost tracking budget management or financial reporting in a construction or logistics context.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems project scheduling software (e.g. MS Project Procore) or similar tools.
- Knowledge of Alberta oversize/overweight load permit requirements and regulations.
- Standard First Aid Certification.
