The Kamloops Fibre Trucking Division specializes in serving key customers by hauling wood fibre including wood chips sawdust and hogfuel from various origins to key customer destinations in the Interior and Lower Mainland BC. Approximately 160 employees report into Kamloops Fibre Trucking Division including Company Drivers Lease Operators Shop Staff and Office Staff.
We are looking for a Transportation Coordinator for our largest Trucking Division - Kamloops Fibre. Working directly under the Division Manager this role best suits a motivated individual with an analytical mindset and a desire to advance their leadership abilities. As many of our Operation Supervisors begin their careers in this role it is imperative to have excellent interpersonal skills the ability to adapt and pivot when required and to be technologically proficient.

TheTransportation Coordinatorsprimary role is to coordinate and oversee the routing and scheduling of our daily trucking services to meet customer requirements focusing on maximizing payload and productivity in a safe and effective manner. Taking direction from the Division Manager Operations Supervisor and/or Senior Transportation Coordinators this role is entry level and theknowledge requirementsresponsibility and scope associatedarenot as great as with more senior levels of the position.
Major Responsibilities
- Follows and carries out the planandhasoversight ofthe routing and scheduling of drivers andequipment andassures compliance with time schedules and applicable laws codesrulesand regulations.
- Ensures the drivers have the proper instructions to perform their duties safely and listens to all driver concerns and actson them appropriately.
- Ensures that schedules are carried out in an effective and efficient manner.Coordinates the daily assignment of company and contracted resources to maximize equipment productivity and payload whilemaintaininga high levelof customer service.
- Makes necessary adjustments for road closures overloadslatenessand related problems.
- Communicates regularly with the drivers toassistand manage implications caused by truck problemslatenessand accidents.
- Communicates with the customer to report compliance to daily targets as well as course of action should deviation to plans occur.
- Oversees the assignment of spare drivers should there be a short or long-term shortfall of regular drivers.
- Follow all workplace safety policies and compliance regulationsparticipateinidentifyinghazards
- Complywithall rules and regulationsprotocolsand established metrics
- Continuously surveys the existing trucking program for safety and cost improvement opportunities andadvises the manager of ways toimprove current systems.
- Assistsin the implementation of policy and process improvement.
- Confersand coordinateswithshop personnel as well asdriversregardingrepairs and preventative maintenance schedules and timelines.
- Responsible for collecting and reviewing driver paperwork and ensuring it is completeaccurateandtimely.
- Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop department or work crew
- Other duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisorand/orDivision Manager.
- Grade 12 or equivalent and 1-3 years of relevant experience
- Preference will be given to those withrelevantpost-secondaryeducation
- Experience in the transportation industry is an asset
