Job Summary:

As a Trader reporting to the Senior Trader youll support our interest rate derivatives and FX trading this front-office role youll help provide liquidity and market-making services to credit unions across Canada.

Youll trade products such as interest rate swaps bonds FX (spot and forwards) bond forwards equity derivatives and interest rate futures. Youll also help build models improve processes and deliver analytics across the business while supporting trading operations technology projects and product development.

This role requires working independently with minimal supervision collaborating across teams and showing strong initiative and professionalism. The environment is fast-paced may involve extended hours and requires meeting deadlines for reporting and analysis.

What youll be doing:

  • Execute and clear institutional trades across the interest rate derivatives and FX portfoliosmaintaininghigh accuracy in fast-paced market conditions
  • Monitor and mitigate post-trade risk through active portfolio consolidation and rigorous limit monitoring
  • Ensure that deals are structured and managed within the parameters outlined in the Market Risk Policy and Investment Standard
  • Ensure all account documentation and actions taken meet with Central 1and external regulatory compliance requirements
  • Participate in various department initiatives and special projects
  • Develop andmaintainclose working relationships with other departments
  • Preparemonitorand enhance front officePnLand risk reporting
  • Work collectively with other departments to ensureaccuratedata flow and reporting
  • Design and implement tools used for position and business management
  • Maintainenhanceand develop business models and business analytics
  • Provideaccurateand competitive product pricingto credit unionandinstitutionalclients
  • Maintain and manage activecoverage with Canadian bank dealers to ensure competitive pricing and liquidity access
  • Activelymonitorglobal and domestic macroeconomic trends toanticipateshifts in the Canadian yield curve and FX markets

What youll have:

  • University degree ineconomics/finance and/or quantitative discipline
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is an asset
  • 5 yearsfinancial managementexperience with excellent understanding of fixed income and derivative markets
  • Self starter. Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong quantitative techniques analytical skills and significant trading experience relating to fixed income securities and financial derivatives
  • Strong competency in MS Office with particular attention to Excel
  • Strong competency in programming and data management. Experience in VBA R and Python programming languages is an asset
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative abilities as well as the ability to research and organize information into coherent recommendations and actions
  • Solid understanding of capital markets and interest in learning to trade and manage capital marketsproducts
  • Experience in design and development of front office pricing analytics and risk tools relating to the trading book is an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills arerequiredto support cross-department and divisional interaction and working relationships
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member; while concurrently managing a variety of tasks
  • Accuracy is critical in this function and will have a material impact on Central 1s performance

Salary range: $90000-$110000

The salaryrepresentsthe job rate determined for the successful candidate who is fully competent in the role. The actual salary will vary depending on market conditions and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge skills qualifications experience and education/training.
