Trade Leadhand Mechanic

An exciting career opportunity exists at Mainroad North Island Contracting LP for a Trade Leadhand Mechanic (TLM). The TL Mechanic will be tasked with repairing and maintaining company vehicles and equipment among other duties. This position will be based out of Mainroads shop/yard in Cumberland BC. This is a unionized position with all perks and other terms stated in the Collective Agreement.

The successful candidate shall have the following qualifications:

• A Red Seal Mechanical Certification is required.

• Valid Inspection Certification is required.

• Valid Class 3 Drivers License with air brake endorsement is required.

• Team player with a positive attitude

• Capable of performing heavy physical duties

• Ability to work shifts (including night shift)

• Willing to work in extreme weather conditions

• Able to work within a team environment

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Dedicated and committed

• Able to direct and/or mentor others in their day to day tasks

• Able to plan and schedule day to day activities

• Able to impart corrective action as required

The successful candidate will be responsiblefor a wide range of mechanical duties including sourcing parts and supplies along with completing repairs to a fleet of road maintenance equipment (ie. Loaders pickup trucks tandem highway trucks backhoes etc.).
