Job Information and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Manager Networks the Technology Analyst (Voice & Data) will:

  • Develops the University Information Technology architecture in collaboration with the Technology Development and Support team.
  • Plans for the implementation of these architectures through infrastructure change; drafts and presents these plans to EIT staff and University departments; incorporates these plans into EIT systems documentation.
  • Performs analysis of current infrastructure vs. emerging technologies; recommends and justifies changes to the architecture/infrastructure resulting from these analyses.
  • Plans the implementation of technology infrastructure and upgrades (hardware and software). Works with internal staff and external departments agencies or vendors to implement.
  • Assists the Manager in developing policy and procedure recommendations for the administration of and access to technology to be carried out by EIT staff (account creation processes network access policies backup and disaster recovery procedures etc.).
  • Monitors the performance of the technology infrastructure; identifies trends; makes recommendations for improvement; uses this information to anticipate long term technology issues; identifies immediate (non-routine) problems and takes corrective action as appropriate.
  • As an expert in a technology support area consults with the University and EIT regarding system design problem resolution and strategy.
  • Maintains a high level of current knowledge in the technology area assumed.
  • Supports EIT and University staff in new systems and technologies as required.
  • Assists in operational infrastructure changes support and administration.
  • Under the supervision of EIT management develops and recommends a project plan including establishing objectives funding staffing development and technology requirements.

Experience and Education Requirements

To be the successful Technology Analyst (Voice & Data) you will have:

  • Completion of High School plus completion of a two- or three-year formal technical training program (i.e. Community College).
  • Minimum of three years experience.
  • Information Technology experience in a technology support role.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work on projects in a team environment and ability to work on an individual basis as required.
