Team Leader Housing - 24 Hours provides leadership and oversight of the YMCA Sprott House transitional housing program for 2SLGBTQIA young people 16-24 years old ensuring a safe supportive and inclusive environment for youth. The role balances strategic responsibilities such as aligning programs with quality standards and organizational priorities with hands-on operational oversight including staff guidance and daily program delivery. It fosters team development collaboration and accountability while supporting continuous improvement. By combining leadership and day-to-day management the position directly impacts both staff effectiveness and youth well-being. As part of the 2SLGBTQIA transitional housing program team staff will contribute actively to a culture of human rights and will at all times demonstrate an unwavering and knowledgeable commitment to creating and maintaining safe space for all gender diversity and sexual orientations.

The program operates 24 hours per day 365 days a year and requires continuous on-site staffing and support to 25 participants. The Sprott team provides support assisting young people toward increasing independence self-reliance and self-determination. The program offers individual and case management support social/recreational opportunities and opportunities for peer support through group work.

Members of the Sprott team promote increasing independence and self-realization using anti-oppression harm reduction mental health recovery trauma-informed and other strengths-based approaches. Recognizing the unique struggles needs and strengths of 2SLGBTQIA youth and other marginalized populations staff support participants one on one and in group/social settings.

In this role you will:

    • Lead the staff team within the assigned program to achieve program goals and deliver effective services.
    • Provide leadership and monitor team building and cohesiveness.
    • Support leadership in monitoring and achieving contractual obligations program targets and Association Standards.
    • Evaluate current protocols and practices and develop and maintain processes for implementation and execution.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of annual program plans marketing promotions and outreach initiatives.
    • Ensure quarterly interim and annual funding reporting to the City of Toronto for financial accountability to funding bodies where applicable.
    • Collaborate with leadership on operational and policy issues and provide regular updates.
    • Contribute to ongoing program evaluation and quality control.
    • Evaluate health and safety practices and quality standards to ensure compliance with the City of Toronto Shelter Standards and that contractual obligations are met and where possible exceeded.
    • Monitor SMIS admission and discharge data including case note documentation and ensure data integrity and quality audit measures are achieved in accordance with YMCA and City standards.
    • Assess and coordinate training opportunities for team members and maintain a current training and certification list.
    • Supervise the staff team including scheduling and attendance staff meetings coaching and development.
    • Assist leadership in the recruitment training and orientation of new staff.
    • Participate in the compilation of internal (e.g. member counts program counts and month-end reports) and external reports (e.g. quarterly reports and proposals) as well as statistical data.
    • Adhere to all YMCA House protocols and practices as well as Association and other relevant policies and procedures.
    • Participate in individual supervision staff meetings case reviews and committees as required.
    • Perform on-call duties responding to emergencies incidents and critical issues.
    • Provide administrative support to ensure program obligations are met including ordering office supplies and materials as directed.
    • Coordinate scheduling for hourly and on-call staff maintain attendance records and submit required monthly documentation where applicable.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    You bring:

    • Post-secondary education in Counselling Social/Community Work Social Services Human Services Management or a related field or equivalent experience.
    • Current Intermediate First Aid Certificate.
    • Minimum 1-year experience within a Team Lead or another semi-supervisory/leadership role.
    • Minimum two years of counselling file management and group facilitation experience is an asset.
    • 2 years of professional experience preferably working with marginalized youth is an asset.
    • Experience supporting individuals (1624 years old) from the 2SLGBTQIA communities is an asset.
    • Knowledge of The Shelter Management Information System (SMIS) is an asset.
    • Proficient with personal computer applications including Microsoft Office Microsoft Outlook and Internet search engines.
    • Knowledge and ability to integrate anti-oppression 2SLGBTQIA and trans-positivity trauma-informed care harm reduction and strengths-based principles into practice.
    • Knowledge of transitional shelter and other housing systems in Toronto and the ability to assist youth transitioning into adulthood through developmentally appropriate support.
    • Valid Drivers License for travel within the city to perform duties.
    • Proven ability to lead a team and develop team members into productive functional members.
    • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
    • Strong administrative skills.
    • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills including the ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with members staff and volunteers as well as excellent written communication skills.
    • Effective problem-solving abilities along with energy enthusiasm dedication flexibility and a willingness to learn.
    • Ability to work flexible hours including days evenings and weekends.
    • Excellent understanding of diversity equity inclusion and belonging including the ability to identify and address barriers work effectively with diverse stakeholders and integrate equity into program design.
