Assisting the Corporate Controller the Tax Assistants main focus includes analyzing Canadian sales tax and US sales and use CompetenciesCommunicationTeamworkFlexibility/AdaptabilityProblem SolvingMulti-tasking skillsBuilding relationshipResearch skillsAttention to detail Responsibilities:Coordinate with team members to successfully deliver value in tax services Maintain best practices in Canadian corporate tax including PST HST QST and US sales and use taxEnsure up to date compliance with US and Canadian tax laws and regulationsConduct research on Canadian and US sales and use taxEnsure accurate filing on Canadian and US sales and use tax Provide assistance and accuracy during tax audits and respond to notices from tax authoritiesMaintain comprehensive tax records and financial data for company use and auditsGather and organize Canadian and US tax information including financial statements income records and expense documentationUtilize company tax software effectivelyOther ad hoc duties as requiredRequirements:Bachelors degree in relevant subject e.g. accounting finance economics taxationWork experience in taxation role including co-op experience considered a plus Competency with MS Office including a strong command of Excel functionsAbility to apply an understanding of financial statements and other relevant non-tax financial and business information to the tax advisory and compliance workAbility to work autonomously and commitment to delivering an excellent productStrong organizational time management skills and effective communication skillsAbility to work and perform under pressure with tight deadlinesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated analytical/problem solving abilitySelf-motivated - takes responsibility for personal and professional developmentTeam player - committed to supporting team membersExcellent attention to detailEager to learnThis is an existing vacancy.
