Job Purpose Reporting to the Employment and Training Manager the Summer Student Coordinator will be responsible for the creation and implementation of the Summer Student Program. The Summer Student Coordinator will work to create and implement the aspects of the Summer Student program where the participants will receive further career exploration exposure skills enhancement and employment experience in placements within the departments of Cold Lake First Nations.
Duties and Responsibilities Create and implement schedule for the Summer Student program to include career exploration skills enhancement (i.e. Learners Training) and employment placement. Assist Employment and Training Manager with employment placements within the CLFN Departments. Research and be knowledgeable of the various aspects of the program (i.e. career exploration learners training etc.). Work together with staff to resolve any issues within the program. Oversee work conducted by Summer Students. Work together with all staff of CLFN regarding summer students involvement in planned activities. Regular communication with Employment and Training Manager as to activities of summer students. Document all activities for reporting purposes.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required Has valid First Aid with CPR/AED Provide a child intervention and criminal record check Has a valid Class 5 Drivers Licence with own vehicle - preferred Has good oral and written (including on-line) communication skills. Is professional self-directed works well independently multi-tasks organized manages deadlines well and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Has experience in programming for and working with young people. Is proficient with computer applications. Is professional and responsible with sensitive and confidential issues. Has excellent communication problem-solving and interpersonal skills. Program/project management and coordination experience would be considered an asset Knowledge of using social media to effectively communicate and promote events would be considered an asset
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements Office work and field work Hours of work are Monday through Thursday from 08:30AM-04:30PM and Fridays from 08:30AM-02:00PM. Some evening and weekend work required.
Salary $20.00/hour
