The Specialist Accounting Research & Valuation plays a key role in providing technical accounting guidance and analysis to support accurate financial reporting and strategic business decisions. This position is responsible for researching and documenting complex accounting matters supporting mergers and acquisitions through accounting and valuation due diligence and providing mentorship and technical expertise to team members.

What You Will Do:
  • Research and analyze complex technical accounting matters by applying deep technical expertise interpreting relevant accounting guidance and determining appropriate accounting treatments that align with applicable standards and business objectives.

  • Prepare and document technical accounting positions through comprehensive accounting position papers and supporting materials.

  • Monitor emerging and existing GAAP and SEC standards and regulatory developments assess their impact on accounting policies practices and disclosures and communicate implications to the organization.

  • Develop review and maintain complex accounting disclosures for SEC filings and periodic reports ensuring accuracy completeness and compliance for new unusual or highly technical transactions and accounting matters.

  • Partner with external auditors and internal stakeholders to address and resolve technical accounting and disclosure issues while maintaining strong relationships across Finance Corporate Development and Business Development functions as a trusted technical accounting resource.

  • Lead the adoption and implementation of new accounting pronouncements by developing and managing comprehensive project plans coordinating impacted functions including Accounting Tax Controls IT and Operations and ensuring consistent application across all business units.

  • Provide technical accounting training communication and guidance to Finance and business stakeholders on new accounting standards technical accounting requirements and the implications of accounting developments relevant to their areas of responsibility.

  • Support mergers acquisitions and divestitures through accounting and valuation due diligence.

  • Mentor and provide guidance to technical accounting team members fostering consistency and excellence in accounting practices.

Who You Are:
Required:
  • Four-year university degree in Accounting Business Administration or equivalent

  • 8 or more years of directly related accounting experience

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA or CA)

  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC rules and regulations

  • Proven team player with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships while demonstrating a high level of cooperation and mutual respect

  • Strong organizational analytical writing and problem solving skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including verbal and written communication

  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter well organized and able to handle multiple tasks

  • Able to work independently with little supervision

Preferred:
  • At least 6 years of Public Accounting or US GAAP financial reporting or technical accounting research experience preferred
