Solution Architect with strong expertise in Java and Big Data

Were looking for an experienced Solution Architect with deep Java and Big Data expertise to design and drive enterprise-scale solutions for a delivery team in Toronto. The ideal candidate brings a strong architectural background hands-on technical depth and the ability to lead and mentor engineering teams while aligning solutions with business objectives.

What youll do

• Define end-to-end solution architecture for enterprise applications leveraging Java and Big Data platforms
• Design scalable secure and high-performance systems using microservices and distributed architectures
• Develop architecture blueprints technical roadmaps and solution designs aligned with business needs
• Lead design and development of enterprise applications using Java Spring Boot Spring Cloud and Hibernate
• Design and implement Big Data solutions using Hadoop Spark Hive Kafka and NoSQL databases
• Build real-time and batch data processing pipelines and define data ingestion processing and storage strategies
• Architect cloud-based solutions on AWS Azure or GCP integrating Big Data and Java services
• Design APIs and integration frameworks using REST messaging systems and event-driven architectures
• Work with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes
• Conduct architecture and code reviews and ensure adherence to enterprise standards
• Mentor development teams and provide technical leadership across delivery
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and product owners to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Identify and mitigate architectural risks and ensure security and compliance requirements are met

What you bring

• 10 years of IT experience with at least 3 to 5 years in a Solution Architect role
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 8 Spring Boot and Spring Cloud
• Expertise in Big Data technologies including Hadoop Spark Kafka and Hive
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and Cassandra
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms including AWS Azure or GCP
• Familiarity with DevOps tools including CI/CD pipelines Jenkins Git and Terraform
• Strong understanding of enterprise architecture patterns microservices and distributed systems design
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead and mentor teams
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field
• Eligibility for a mandatory background check

Nice to have

• Experience with data governance and data lake architectures
• Cloud platform certification in AWS Azure or GCP
• Exposure to AI/ML data pipelines
• Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments

Work setup

• Onsite in Toronto ON 4 days per week (non-negotiable)
• In-person interview may be required
• 6 month contract
