Job Summary



The Shuttle Ambassadors role includes on-site and off-site operational management of the shuttle service which includes Guest loading liaison with the shuttle drivers and communicating with our shuttle service provider on any problems or logistical matters.

You are part of a team that is responsible for monitoring guest safety and traffic flow of our bus lot and entrance plaza area at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. If positioned in downtown you are responsible for the active off-site promotion of tourist visits to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. The Shuttle Ambassador will also promote visits to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park through our sightseeing and tour company partners. It is an active outdoor position that requires working as part of a team to exceed expectations of our guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • To create experiences that people are amazed by
  • Ensure a quality Guest experience by providing courteous safe and efficient service
  • Promote daily shuttles to potential Guests in person at our Downtown location
  • Gain knowledge of the competitions pricing products and services
  • Be knowledgeable about the history and features of Capilano Suspension Bridge Park
  • Complete all duties necessary to the successful operation of the shuttle
  • Use your mobility to wow our Guests by anticipating their needs and going above and beyond
  • Help manage peak demand times by creatively suggesting off peak shuttle times or alternative transportation options available to the Guests at that time
  • Work with other Team Members ensuring consistency of our Guests experience
  • Keep constant communication with and execute any reasonable directive from Operations Management and Supervisors

General Operations

  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness throughout the property
  • Remain committed to the historical theme and Guest service standards of the Park
  • Comply with Capilano Standards for inventory and waste management including organic recycling procedures
  • Keep constant communication with and execute any reasonable directive from Operations Management and Supervisors

Safety

  • Take reasonable care to protect your own co-workers and Guests health and safety
  • Know and follow all Capilanos health and safety policies and procedures
  • Ask for further training before taking on any task that you are unsure of or have not been trained on
  • Cooperate with the JOHS Committee and any person carrying out Occupational Health and Safety duties
  • Use protective clothing devices and equipment provided and find out what protective equipment is required for each task
  • Ensure your ability to work without risk to your health and safety or any other persons safety is not impaired by alcohol drugs or other causes
  • Be alert to hazards and immediately report hazards defective equipment or concerns to your Supervisor

Qualifications

  • 1 year experience in Guest Services Retail Tourism or Hospitality
  • Work effectively under pressure and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle high volumes of vehicle traffic and guest-related interactions with professionalism
  • Positive proactive and energetic personality
  • Second language is considered an asset
  • Valid First Aid is considered an asset
  • Must have a passion for Guest service the city and its many sights outdoors

Working Conditions
The ideal candidate must be able to work a variety of shifts including evenings weekends and holidays as well as in off-site locations in order to meet the needs of the business. Team Members are required to be on their feet for extended periods of time. They are expected to deliver the position as described under various weather conditions. Occasionally Team Members may be required to lift and carry up to 50lbs climb a step ladder or step stool.

The wage for this role is $19.25 per hour.
