What is the Opportunity

CanAtom a joint venture between AtkinsRéalis and Aecon is delivering the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station Refurbishment Project under a collaborative contract with Ontario Power Generation. The joint venture is underway to complete the retube feeder and boiler replacement (RFBR) of Units 58. Building on the successful delivery of the Darlington Refurbishment Project the CanAtom team brings proven experience in safely executing complex nuclear projects on time and on budget to support Ontarios clean energy future.

Reporting to the Senior Construction Manager of SGR the SGR Construction Manager Lead-In & Removals will be responsible for construction readiness and execution planning for the Steam Generator Replacement lead-in and removals scope including work package readiness labour and supervision planning tooling and logistics integration constructability reviews and field execution governance.

What Youll Do Here:

  • Lead construction readiness/planning and execution for the Steam Generator Replacement lead-in and removals scope within the Pickering RFBR project.
  • Build and staff an experienced SGR construction team including supervisors coordinators field engineers workface planners and support personnel.
  • Integrate with engineering procurement tooling logistics quality and project controls to ensure SGR construction packages are ready for execution.
  • Develop labour supervision and resource plans aligned with RFBR schedule milestones outage strategy and station access requirements.
  • Work with Labour Relations to proactively manage unionized trade labour requirements jurisdictional considerations onboarding training and field performance expectations.
  • Oversee field execution readiness including constructability reviews execution sequencing workface planning temporary services laydown access and heavy component handling interfaces.
  • Maintain direct alignment with EHS and Human Performance leadership to reinforce Safety Always nuclear safety culture error reduction tools observation and coaching and event-free execution.
  • Manage construction interfaces with OPG station counterparts CanAtom project leadership engineering procurement quality scheduling subcontractors and supporting suppliers.
  • Ensure all assigned SGR execution resources complete the required project station safety quality and role-specific training before field deployment.
  • Monitor construction performance against safety quality schedule productivity cost and readiness indicators escalating risks and removing barriers to execution.
  • Support the development of SGR execution strategies mock-up and training requirements work control improvements lessons learned and unit-over-unit continuous improvement plans.
  • Ensure all work is planned and performed in accordance with applicable nuclear quality requirements construction procedures work packages permits hold points and OPG site expectations.
  • Identify key-person succession and development plans for supervisors and field leaders supporting the SGR scope.
  • Provide visible field leadership through observations coaching pre-job briefs readiness reviews risk reviews and construction leadership engagement.
  • Champion collaboration accountability and continuous improvement across the SGR team and the broader RFBR project organization.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • 10 years of progressive construction leadership experience preferably in nuclear refurbishment major component replacement heavy industrial power generation or complex infrastructure environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large multidisciplinary construction teams in a highly regulated environment with a strong focus on safety quality and human performance.
  • Strong knowledge of construction planning workface planning schedule integration field execution risk management and construction readiness governance.
  • Experience managing unionized trade labour subcontractors supervision and field support teams in a project- or outage-based construction environment.
  • Excellent communication stakeholder management problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to work confidently with OPG CanAtom leadership engineering procurement quality EHS labour relations and field execution teams.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors including work location education experience unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications specialized training and the complexity or scope of the role.
