Senior Water Resources Engineer

We are currently seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our Water Resources team. Our team specializes in watershed studies and the design of stormwater collection systems and culverts. Combining advanced flood mapping and coastal risk assessments with targeted shoreline protection planning we build resilient solutions to safeguard communities and water environments.

This is a new position and can be based at any one our Saint John Fredericton or Halifax offices. We offer flexible work hours and hybrid work arrangement options to help balance the competing demands of work and personal life.

Technical Project Work andProject Management

• Provide senior technical input for delivery of water resource management projects for both public and private sector clients.
• Undertake and lead hydrologic and hydraulic modelling assignments for urban infrastructure systems including the analysis of surface drainage storm sewer networks dual drainage systems bridges and culverts erosion and scour protection.
• Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modelling and analysis tasks utilizing software such as PCSWMM InfoWorks ICM Visual OTTHYMO HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS.
• Provide technical input for complex or unique assignments.
• Support multi-disciplinary projects or programs.
• Direct coordinate and supervise water resources related activities of engineering and design groups both from a technical and functional standpoint.
• Coordinate with cross-disciplines to identify and incorporate relevant data pertaining to hydrologic and hydraulic parameters system connectivity discharge points project constraints and implementation considerations.
• Interpret results of simulations to assess capacity identify system deficiencies and evaluate improvement alternatives.
• Apply monitored and statistical data to models to simulate return-period and continuous scenarios and to calibrate and validate results.
• Provide project engineering and technical expertise calculations and design input to various stormwater management and drainage systems.
• Lead conceptual and detailed design of drainage and/or stormwater management infrastructure.
• Undertake studies assessments modeling preliminary and detailed design cost estimates specifications and input to contract documents.
• Project components include project planning technical evaluations studies preliminary design final design and services during construction.
• Study evaluations include the analysis of alternatives methods of implementation and cost analyses.
• Fulfill project plans in accordance with established scopes of work budgets and schedules to execute high quality projects.
• Develop new or novel concepts and approaches and recommend major design changes.
• Input to the career development of more junior staff including technical direction training recommendations coaching and mentoring.

Business Development

• Contribute to business development activities including leading the preparation of project proposals and presentations.
• Engagement with our clients to identify potential opportunities and strategic priorities.

• Undergraduate degree in civil or environmental engineering or applicable technical degree.
• Eligible to hold valid a license from the relevant provincial Professional Engineering Association
• 10 years relevant experience in a consulting environment on water resources engineering projects
• Valid drivers license.
• Proficiency with water resources tools such as Visual OTTHYMO PCSWMM and HEC-RAS. 2D modeling capabilities considered an asset.
• Strong understanding of municipal and provincial drainage design standards.
• Excellent communication report writing and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.

• Mandatory experience in a range of water resources related projects including urban drainage systems hydrotechnical engineering and stormwater management.
• Experience with analysis infrastructure design and construction administration.
• Proficiency with the application of PCSWMM (1D & 2D) HEC-RAS/HMS InfoWorks ICM and related computer models would be considered an asset.
• Experience in water resources and civil engineering projects in Ontario.
• Excellent communications report writing organization and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
