About Island Gold District:Alamos Golds Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario just east of the town of Dubreuilville 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Role Overview

Reporting to the Chief Engineer the Senior Mine Engineer will be responsible for supervision of mine planning drill/blast planning and surveying department. Other tasks will include execution of strategic planning budget review project management as well as coaching and mentoring of EITs. Additionally the role provides a development opportunity as there will be occasions that acting as the Chief Engineer is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of Short Medium and Long Range Plans as well as participate in the creation and review of yearly budget and life of mine planning
  • Supervise drilling and blasting design activities in compliance with company SOPs
  • Provide direction to Mine Operations in accordance with strategic planning
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members promoting professional growth for EITs.
  • Mine Design work including waste dumps stockpiles haul roads and underground void model updates
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
  • End of month reconciliations as well as quarterly and yearly reporting presentations

What You Bring to the Table

  • University degree in Mining Engineering or similar field.
  • Professional Engineering Designation or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer within 6 months.
  • A Minimum of eight years of open pit mine engineering experience required.
  • Proficiency mine design software such as MinePlan considered an asset
  • Familiarity with Fleet Management Systems production reporting systems and analytical tools (such as PowerBi)
  • Strong interpersonal analytical and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail strong team and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of working around historic underground voids considered an asset
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Working Conditions

  • The schedule for this position is based in a camp operation working on a 14/14 rotation schedule.
